The subject of wearing or carrying a knife around your neck is my favorite used carry. I think people overlook how well it works. The handle down carry is not as useful to me as the handle up carry. Because you can use the knife and return it to the sheath using one hand.👍

Neck knives are almost ubiquitous in Scandinavian countries because of the ease of access while wearing winter clothes and in case you fall through the ice. Self rescue is virtually impossible without either ice picks or a knife to help pull yourself out from the water.

Another good video Neil. Two KZbin’rs i always look forward to and watch as soon as a new video uploads is yourself and Rob Evans Outdoorsman. The two best Bushcrafting KZbinrs and channels on the platform. A colab perhaps???

I probably carry too many knives everyday, yet I use them all. Always a SAK Huntsman. Always a CRKT Minimalist neck knife. As well as a belt knife which is in rotation depending on the needs of the day. I live off the grids in the woods so a lot of hand tools are needed where just one knife isn’t ideal. Sometimes I add a second belt knife for heavy work where a 4” blade isn’t always enough.

I like to wear the Peltonen M23 around my neck or scout carry stile. You have some nice knives.

I love my Neck Knife. My normal side/belt carry is the EKA Nordic W12 but as my Neck Knife I carry a Rough Rider Code Red Alterna and it's nice because it packs a 7.6cm (3”) 3Cr13 stainless steel, drop point blade so it's really useable. Oh and as a SHTF situ blade i also carry a Doug Ritter RS5 MK5. I like to be prepared.

And here's me thinking everyone carried a neck knife because Mr Kochanski said it was a good idea, if I remember rightly he got the idea from nurses the way they carried their scissors.

I think the Mora’s are best overall as a neck knife. They’re sharp, lite and some come with Striker rods integrated into the handle or sheath,

Eh up Neil. Not keen on anything being around my neck - free the Gregory! 😂 I did use a blade down my back once upon a time which was a full size combat knife. A long time ago.

Brisa necker 70 fully flat grind knife, I have the kydex sheath for when I have it around my neck and a leather sheath with dangler for when I need it on my belt. I also use the Boker mini outdoorsman as a neck knife because it’s handy to grab especially on my small holding. I use the fisherman’s knot on the kydex sheath so you can loosen and tighten the lanyard around my neck, makes putting it on and off easier. The outdoorsman mini is a very versatile handy knife, a small blade and a decent length handle which I use for everything and anything.. Horses for courses and all that

I carry my Enzo Elver as a neck knife .I much prefer to carry it that way than on my belt .Probably wouldn't do that with my Svord Von Tempsky though 🤭

I've used a neck knife 🔪 for 30 yrs now my personal opinion never ever had a problem! Just keep it tucked in my shirt until I need it. Awesome Video 📹 👏

I carry all my knives round my neck, seems the only logical thing to do. My bushcraft knives have always been smaller sized or folders so it makes sense. Can concur I have a beautiful Yew knife from Simon at Ashdown Forest Crafts just the perfect size at 3.5” x 3mm and fine round the neck. You mentioned Simons knives are a fraction of the size and weight but you forgot to mention fraction of the price! I have no idea how people find 4” 4mm knives any use for anything! Really cumbersome and heavy.

An Apology I unsubscribed over an Olight review. I made the spirit stove as seen on your channel, I bought a mora as seen on your channel and I've bought a Dutch poncho as seen on your channel. Sorry now seen the light and re-subscribed . Still think the Olight is overpriced. 😁

Growing up, a penknife in the pocket was normal. I've seen the rise in popularity of neck knives, and I get it. It's just not for me. I live on a large salt water estuary, the Forth, and due to a combination of unusual natural factors, it's a very corrosive environment. Hence, the continual painting of the Forth Rail Bridge historically. You certainly have to keep an eye on your carbon steel knives here, and it plays merry hell with ferro rods!

I’m not famous, just notorious. But I am smart enough to not carry a sharp knife around my neck. Working, twisting to maneuver, bending down, lifting, carrying items, etc are physical motions that can cause painful and/or fatal consequences with a knife pointed at your stomach. I also don’t smoke while refueling my car. Nor in a dynamite factory. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

But you do smoke and drive? I think (and I'm no expert on statistics) that more people, worldwide, are killed by those two things, than freak accidents involving someone being stabbed by their own knife that is in a Sheath around their neck...... Just saying
