Lyrics:
Do you know what's worth fighting for
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I
When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I
Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone?
When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I

This song has a special place in my heart because it got me out of two very dark points in my life. The first when I was nine, my parents had split up, and at nine years old, I was feeling sad and angry at myself because I thought it was my fault. This song had just come out, and I would hear it all the time like it was sending me a message that everything was going to be ok. The second time was when I was sixteen, I was feeling depressed and completely worthless. I almost took my own life, but this song came into my head right as I was about to do it after herring the lyrics, " Do you know what is fighting for when it's not worth dying for." I snapped out of it and found a new lease on life. I realized I wanted to live again, and I have this song to thank me for it, that is why it is my favorite song of all time. I hope one day to preform it life whether its for 3 people or a thousand people I dont care as long as I can share the magic that this song gave to me.

Hey man.......your story isn't rare.........I'm 41 and I saw Green Day waaaaaaaaay back in the day like 4 times..........on the Insomniac Tour, Nimrod Tour, and the Warning Tour. This band has saved me so many times bro.......and this particular performance of 21 Guns is so good because it was in Japan. Those people rarely get to see big American bands like Green Day. For them it's a once in a lifetime experience......watching this always makes me cry..........such a great performance....all time!

But it's heavily altered nonetheless. There is an electric guitar in the sound that is added afterwards or prior. The real performance most likely sounded nothing like the video. Most likely the voice was also altered later in the studio. Only the shouts between singing might be real. When he says hands up etc. . And you can hear a clear difference to the singing.

I went to camp for two weeks with some of my friends and also allot of people I dont know. every night a couple of us sat down and played song on the guitar and sang. one day the guy that was on the guitar asked me to give him a song to play. I said he probably wont know this song but if he can play 21 guns by green day. to my surprise, he and also a couple more people knew and loved this song! so we stayed up all night singing green day and old songs. It was a night I will never forget.

It's really depressing when you know that basically no one in your school has the same music taste as you. You can't really share any music with them or talk about the same amazing bands like Green Day. Sometimes I wish Green Day was mainstream again, but sadly there's nothing I can do about it, and till then I walk alone.

I remember seeing Green Day live during my freshman year of high school at Shoreline Amphitheater in 2010. I went with a group of buddies who all played in the same punk-rock/alternative band (I was the drummer) and we did Green Day covers every so often at local venues around town. It was a big deal seeing these guys for us back when they were probably one of the biggest bands in the world at that point (mid to late 2000s). I mean they were like gods to most young adults back then.. especially for kids like us trying to start a band and be like them. The experience itself was incredible.. the vibe, the people, the craziness of it all. Looking back it was like a dream almost.. This was the first concert we were truly free of parents around so we all pregamed in the parking-lot and met some girls we went to school with. The sun set and we all found our places on the railing to see Green Day as they took the stage. I’ll never forgot what Billie Joe said to start off the concert.. “ALL OF YOU BETTER GET ON YOUR FEET! THIS AINT A FUCKING COLDPLAY CONCERT!” They ended the show with this song and it was the perfect ending to the night, everyone was singing along with arms around one another. Brothers and sisters united. Fucking amazing.

Green Day, Foo Fighters, RHCP, GnR and AC/DC are honestly the last survivors of good rock. As a matter of fact, I dont even know if rock still exists other than These guys. Still wish Kurt was alive. Do you know what's worth fighting for When it's not worth dying for? Does it take your breath away And you feel yourself suffocating? Does the pain weigh out the pride? And you look for a place to hide? Did someone break your heart inside? You're in ruins One, twenty one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty one guns Throw up your arms into the sky, You and I When you're at the end of the road And you lost all sense of control And your thoughts have taken their toll When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul Your faith walks on broken glass And the hangover doesn't pass Nothing's ever built to last You're in ruins One, twenty one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty one guns Throw up your arms into the sky, You and I Did you try to live on your own When you burned down the house and home? Did you stand too close to the fire? Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone When it's time to live and let die And you can't get another try Something inside this heart has died You're in ruins One, twenty one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty one guns Throw up your arms into the sky, One, twenty one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty one guns Throw up your arms into the sky, You and I

I get so angry, these guys are my favorite band. I loved them since I was young, like 5 or 6 (I am 15). Ever since it's been a huge dream of mine for them to come to my city. I live in Western Canada and it seems when ever they go on a tour, it's always, the States, Europe and/or Eastern Canada. If they ever do come to my part of Canada, I can finally say I will die a happy man. It's the number 1 thing on my bucket list.

Live is the most beautiful way of showing their emotions because they care for their audience. and then the harmony, both the band and the crowd. Good on them :)

+Asura When someone sings for a DVD, which will be sold to the public, it undergoes some editing especially the singer gets edited. Even Billie, while I'll admit he is a fantastic singer. But this is edited.
