RIP: Gabriel Pena My best friend who introduced me to Green Day back in 1998 when I was only 14. Sadly, I recently found out that he drowned in the ocean a few years ago, leaving being a little daughter. He was a genuine wonderful person who, inspired by Green Day, dreamed of starting a Punk Rock band as a kid. We are all anonymous statistics who pass through this world on our journey to self realization, I want to leave his name here for posterity in honor of our friendship.

Bro, I swear to God, Green Day is LEGENDERY. All they've done to the music industry, all the bands they influenced, all the fans they inspired. This group of 3 guys just managed to become such a huge band, one of the most popular in the world. The music, the live performances, the amount of attention put into fans, all of it, is just so amazing. Green Day is hell of a unique band and will always be my favorite.

This was the first CD I ever bought, probably around 1993. I asked my mom if I could get an album called "Dookie" 😂🤣 after that I got their older stuff from around 1991 before they were mainstream, "1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" which was a combination of another album and a single I think, 39 Smooth and 1,000 Hours. Quite the different sound they had then from this album. Hard to believe they've been around more than 25 years now!

Seriously. Fuck being an adult. This adult shit sucks. I wanna go back to 1995 when the world had it's social problems, but it was optimistic and there were no problems that didn't feel like they couldn't be solved. Now we're stuck I. This backasswards conservative wasteland where all of us adults just sit helplessly by and wri g our hands and say "thoughts and prayers" right after another classroom of kids has been shot up. We talk and walkt and talk. Nothing gets done. That last school shooting is forgotten, then along comes another one. And then ycle repeats itself. Anyways, going off on a tangent.

Something I’m already noticing about this video that I love is how it looks like it was manually colored in. Like those documentaries that have old black and white war footage recolored to give a “more realistic” view when it only makes them look more weird, especially when it comes to eyes. I just feel like that kinda aesthetic adds to how one might feel at feeling so anxious all the time, feeling weird and having the feeling of sticking out like a sore thumb. It just makes me love this music video so much.
