The Golden Spike Centennial at Promontory Point in 1969 is prominently covered including special trains from parts of the U.S. which converged on the scene for the reenactment. Many of those trains were pulled by steam!

Only the 8500GTELs have tenders, and those are converted steam tenders for holding 24000 gallons of #6 fuel oil.

yes it's the gas turbine it needed a tender because it went through alot of fuel

Yeah, they haven't really ever innovated with their schemes. They did have the greyhound scheme, but it was basically a copy of SP's lark, and they got rid of it pretty early on.
