We have an 80’x40’ older greenhouse that we’ve lost the plastic off 3 times. The high winds here in Nova Scotia just rip thick plastic off like freakin tissue paper. We were thinking of doing something like this and so happy to come across your video.
@CountryLivingExperience3 жыл бұрын
The strapping should really help that plastic stay put.

I'll be waiting for a video of this greenhouse in 30 mph wind just sitting there taking it like a boss!

Farmer's friend does something similar on their caterpillar tunnels...We bought a couple of their caterpillar tunnels to have on our Rocky Mtn Homestead...

They’re great. We partnered with them and did a video on the weed barrier fabric.

how do you keep the wood frame on the ground when a wind comes up
@FensterfarmGreenhouse6 жыл бұрын
I just built a Farmtek Grow span greenhouse for a client that had cabling like that. It does take out a lot of slack and firm up the structure. Chuck
@CountryLivingExperience6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Chuck. The cabling has worked well so far. Although I needed to tighten it up a bit because the paracord stretched in the sun.

You should look into wiggle wire and poly channel locks to secure the plastic. Way easier and far more secure.
@CountryLivingExperience5 жыл бұрын
Wiggle wire is nice but expensive. Outside of my budget right now.

nice, gave me some great ideas.

Did you anchor the wood frame?
@CountryLivingExperience2 жыл бұрын
We showed how to do that in the original build video here...kzbin.info/www/bejne/an26dn2ebLZ7mLc. Short answer is yes.

Every spring we have a strong wind storm or two. This past Monday we had a really bad wind storm that brought hurricane-force winds. They were 50mph with 95mph gusts. Do you think this design would hold up against that? It's not common for the wind to be that strong here, but it does happen every 5-10 years or so. I would love to save my plants in winds like that if I can.
@CountryLivingExperience4 жыл бұрын
Those are very serious winds. I am not sure it would hold since it is not anchored to the ground. It is only anchored to the frame.
@saralleverino4 жыл бұрын
@@CountryLivingExperience Thanks! I expect I probably would need a foundation to anchor to.
@CountryLivingExperience4 жыл бұрын
@@saralleverino That would work.

how did you secure the PVC tubes into the wood?

Hello. Please watch our video on how we built the greenhouse here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/an26dn2ebLZ7mLc. It will answer all of your questions.

How many mph is your wind trying to help my friend love the concept
@CountryLivingExperience4 жыл бұрын
The strongest wind it has taken was 28mph. I have never had any issues with it at all.
@robs95746 жыл бұрын
I like it though in high winds would those cables plus ground anchors work better? If anchored to ground the cables wouldn't wear on your roll up sides?
@CountryLivingExperience6 жыл бұрын
It is the plastic that needs to be anchored not the structure. So regardless if they are anchored in the ground or at the base, it will rub and produce some wear on the plastic.
@lalalajuice3 жыл бұрын
@@CountryLivingExperience well where I live the structure needs to be a lot better than that. The Wind will pull that greenhouse off the ground and rip the whole thing apart.
@CountryLivingExperience3 жыл бұрын
@@lalalajuice Umm, ok. So don't build this one.
@lalalajuice3 жыл бұрын
@@CountryLivingExperience It says it's for high wind. Don't call it that when it isn't.

Is all the plants gonna save from the wind if we open that up for airflow?
@CountryLivingExperience4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't understand your question. Can you please rephrase it?
@amazinggrace94223 жыл бұрын
She is asking if the plants are going to be safe from the wind when you open up the tunnel.

Good video would love to have one. Can you use it in Texas all winter?
@CountryLivingExperience7 жыл бұрын
It should work fine for our area of Texas all winter. I will also be working on a heating system for it soon.
@ginacarr97174 жыл бұрын
May I ask which area of Texas you're in? I'm in northern Southeast Texas...just trying to decide if I could use this
@CountryLivingExperience4 жыл бұрын
We are in East Texas. South of Tyler. This has worked well for every nasty thunderstorm we have had. The greenhouse has not moved one bit.

Parachute cord instead of cable would be cheaper, less abrasive and just as effective.
@NChambernator5 жыл бұрын
It is para-cord. Watch the whole thing.
@CountryLivingExperience5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nick. surfdmountain I used paracord not any sort of cable.
