Just a quick doubt, why can the answer not be D when finding a square root? the result can be either positive or negative right?

You're referring to the question at 1:10 in the video. The square root NOTATION tells us to take the POSITIVE square root. So, for example, √9 = 3 only

The question (at 1:48 in the video) tells us that side DE = side EF, which means this is an isosceles triangle, which means it has two equal angles. From here, we can conclude that angle y is also 70 degrees, and since all 3 angles must add to 189 degrees, angle x must be 40 degrees.
