Andrew...The great late James Yeager made a series of videos exploring the idea of carrying a red dot or not in his defensive pistol. He even took a class with James Zdinski and after trying and testing a red dot his conclusion was that he did NOT recommend a red for a defensive pistol. You can look for his videos about red dots in pistols...I agree with him. But to each their own.

I watched those. Notice too, all the red dots for pistols sucked at that time. I didn't even bother getting one till the HS509 came around.
