Love the way you put in clips and stills of the natural world, like the feather on the leaf or the little inch worm on the log. It makes your videos more interesting, than just going from one find to the next digging holes in the ground. Please keep this style and keep the videos coming, I now have to enjoy the outdoors vicariously through videos like yours. Thank you for sharing.

You are the proud owner of a fireplace crane! A pot hanger for over the fire. Great finds. You can see someone using a piece of a silver coin to repair that shoe buckle. It was much more valuable than the coin and who would notice the nibble of the edge of the coin? Enjoy the videos and exactly right about those darn Deer Tick!

Only took me 3 years to find your videos and I love them! I'm commenting on the little spade piece with the hole in it that you found. I believe it could be what I call a "disposable stake" us trappers use them to stake down a trap with a peice of wire. You attach it to the trap, drive that device in the ground with a rod, and when an animal is caught and pulls, that device turns sideways in the ground and it won't pull up. The ones I use are much more simple and modern. This one looks old and awesome (guessing mid/late 1800s). But I'm a 95% sure on this. Good luck on future detecting, keep up the great videos!

New subscriber here and I just wanted to thank you for all the work you do posting these videos up for us guys and gals who can’t get out there and hunt anymore. You do a great job! My first find was with a 25 dollar Radio Shack detector and it was a 1945 Walking Liberty half dollar. I was hooked. I hunted with a Fisher CZ-6 detector back in the 80’s and 90’s until old military injuries caught up with me and made it too difficult to get out there anymore. Anyway, I’m in Ohio so we don’t have much colonial era stuff but I have good friends in Montpellier, VT and whenever I am out there I always wished I could still get out there because that’s where the old stuff is! Anyway, thanks for taking us along on your adventures. You’re good enough to have your own TV show brother! Stay safe, happy hunting, and best regards to you and your family. Keep your powder dry! Semper Fi.

It amazes me that the scam artists were busy being deceitful even in the early days of the colonies. I love every video that you make. You don't just hunt history out; you give us the beauty of where you're at and as much backstory as you've got available. This is why I love your channel. As a kid here in Australia 60 years ago I had two of those half guinea tokens in my coin collection. Same date, 1797. They were brass, but not (as I remember) gilded. They were known as Gaming Tokens, presumably used in some kind of gambling game.......?? Love your videos and look forward to them every week! Best.... Rod.

Well Brad, another OUTSTANDING video. Love everything about them!!! Now, your videos are about, oh, 1000 times better than mine-but one teeny observational idea-when you were describing that shoe buckle and called it a chape, maybe show a quick picture of all the parts together with an old shoe, give us a better concept of the use of the item! LOVE that coin find!!! Your 2nd counterfeit coin!!!! Rob / Diggin' Florida w/ Rob!

Another Fantastic Hunt. Worth going back a few times it seems. For the History side of it, I wonder if there were census or land claim records available at a local history museum. I have spent many hours going over old microfiche rolls searching old documents. Local Historic Societies have been very helpful. Who ever lived there may not have been wealthy by monetary means, but what you have found there has had a distinct sense of style and art form. The counterfeit coin itself has a story, but found where it was found someone lost twice. You're livin the life Mate. Congrats.

At last I can make a contribution! (Well, maybe.) That little clip-like thing at 20:05 very much resembles the kinds of hooks that women used to close a skirt at the waist with, usually paired with a small square or rectangular bar-loop attached to the other end of the garment's opening; considering the weight of the cloth, they had to be very sturdy and were usually removed from an article of clothing when it became too badly worn to be useful anymore. Their lifespan as a useful clothing accessory could last many, many decades, and you can find them in many cultures-- some of the old Anglo Saxon ones used to clasp the cuffs on a tunic or dress were pretty ornate. Modern clothing occasionally uses the modern version, a little squarish steel sliding tab-and bar fastener.
