You could probably use a ratchet with it, but here's another type of socket I use with a ratchet for the same purpose. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoXHpmyDpsp9d9U

What do you do if the lug studs spin with the lug nut still attached. Best way to remove the lugs in this case. I had a tire shop try to remove frozen lugs on my truck they couldnt get them off. When i went to try they spin but do not come off. Any suggestions?

I managed to break Autozone's Emergency lug nut tool in half. The lug nut is still stuck on the wheel and now there's half a broken socket on it too. I'm gonna grind the whole wheel and stud off and just buy a new wheel I'm so sick of this

I hope this works the guys at the shop rounded off my lug just have to find that reverse thread socket

If my lug is a 3/4, should i use a 3/4 socket? Cause i did and it broke my socket in half plz help, should i buy another one and try it again?

You can use an extra stud and stick it in a vice,then remove the special lug nut remover. Replace,never reuse an over torqued lug nut,chances are the threads are ruined or its damaged on the outside from the special nut remover. He just got through saying it would probably be stripped and the outside of the nut damaged anyways. Just replace the nut. I carry a couple spares any more in my glove box. Number one thing is to check the torque on your lug nuts from time to time.

Definitely agree there, cant say how many times someone gets over zealous with a torque gun on my trucks, I try to do as much as possible my self for peace of mind

What if your car is not in a shop. That pressure tool you used doesn't come into play if your car is beside the road.

Try the tool in this video. it has a link i put in comments to buy the socket. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoXHpmyDpsp9d9U

Thomas Allen you can use a 1/2 inch breaker bar. I've done it a few times in the past on the side of the road.

Do you have a tool to remove the wheel studs? I don't want to hammer them out
@GreenosGarage7 жыл бұрын
A lot of mechanics use a hammer. I have used my hydraulic press if my hub is off the car. On the car I have used a universal ball joint separator to remove a stud. I have another press that I modified to do that exact thing, press out a stud.
@06goatm67 жыл бұрын
Why the heck did you put it back on?!
@GreenosGarage7 жыл бұрын
The threads were not stripped the outside was. If the threads were stripped i would have replaced the stud and lugnut. No big deal as I can get it off again.

He didn't want to embarrass himself explaining that the lug nut won't come out of these expensive special sockets, so you end up buying a socket for each lug nut that's stuck. Almost all of the other videos demoing these types of gripper sockets never mention the lug nut becomes a permanent friend of the socket.

They have then at autozone. Just get the right size. They work great.

That impact wrench is what it's called. If a car is nowhere near where one of those can be used, then what?

Yes, I believe that was one of my first videos. I have actually cut down the videos and actually sped up the frame rate for newer videos. It’s a learning experience.

What about a lug nut that just keeps spinning ?
@GreenosGarage3 жыл бұрын
If it’s just to outer cover of the nut you can take that off.

@@GreenosGarage that came off too and it's still spinning tried a drill to the stud but the battery died

i got a lug nut stuck and it turns, but it won't loosen out, figured it might be stripped from the inside, a friend of mine said it got that way cause it wasn't tightened properly...bit of help? please? thanks :)

Bryan Lee Ilagan sounds like the post came loose from the rotor. usually happens when they get replaced improperly. sorry for the late response
@bragybhoy7 жыл бұрын
Silent God 69 so is there anything i could do about it besides having them cut out?
@NYMPHETAMINE12367 жыл бұрын
Bryan Lee Ilagan honestly there's not much you can do besides splitting the lugnut (lug splitters are relatively inexpensive, especially compared to the shop). or the non recommend way of breaking the stud off with leverage. either way, after you get it off I would definitely replace the rotor.
