hey ralph if you want youtube to push your videos you may want to rework where you are putting your plug for your book. KZbin really likes when people watch the whole video so they can push them to another. Some youtubers will even cut there video mid sentence to get the watchtime to the end. thanks for all the help with finding gold and you deserve a million subs for the info you are putting out.

Its a balance - I make money from my book, and watch time percentage is only part of the formula. Only a small percentage - like maybe 25% actually make to the end where I pitch the book.

A stormy day in the mother load☔️is a good time to revisit some of your great video’s !!! Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge with all of us. One of your video’s discussed how to read and detect steep and moderately sloped gully’s, which has helped me quite a bit. I was metal detecting a gully last week and got a hit on a (concealed) 1/4” thick quartz veinlet. The 2 pound sample of vein material I took home produce an amazing 1/2 ounce of free gold. I went back and collected more sample’s of the vein material and found nothing. A very unusual find for me. Again, thank you ⚒️🍀🇺🇸

Little veins often have pockets. I'd search around the area further once things dry up a bit (which will likely be a few days).

I've always felt like the term "mesothermal" used for orogenic deposits is somewhat misleading since "mesothermal" and "epithermal" can be occur in the same deposit. Meso and epi are prefixes to describe depth. The lower portions of epithermal deposits can reach in to the mesothermal range. I suppose the deposits could be classified as "meso or epithermal volcanic deposits" or "meso or epithermal orogenic deposits"... Although, I guess among people who know geology, it's easy to differentiate, but a more concise separation between volcanic and orogenic thermal deposits would help less geologically inclined people to understand the different mechanisms taking place. You have covered both topics thoroughly with great explanations that I clearly understand, but I can also see how a lay person may become confused. As always, thank you for another great video !
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 10 ай бұрын
In part that is why epithermal is volcanic related and Orogenic is mountain building related.

Chris I appreciate you putting the Homestake on the map. I lived in Custer South Dakota for years. I grew up there. I was right in the middle of the gold district that stretches from Custer to Lēad SD. There's still plenty of gold to be had in the Black Hills. I've since moved to Henderson Nevada and started metal detecting. The gold out here is quite different in color as a lot of what I'm finding is an electrum and isn't that pretty buttery looking gold like the Black Hills has to offer. I'll probably be moving to Coos Bay Oregon. That looks promising as well. The Klamath is looking good from what I've researched. I can't wait for another adventure. I love nature and prospecting allows me to enjoy it more than anything else I've done.

Having spent 21 years earning my B A , 21 years now has past without proper educational engagement, so thank you for filling the void. Hi Chris, I had to drive from Miami to Bellingham to visit a really old friend. Now, I am on my way to South Nevada and would like to hunt nuggets. I put BF Goodrich KO2 tires on my AWD RAV4 Hybrid, ready to go off road. At this point I don’t want to sign up with a prospecting club. This is just for a few days to see if I like to do it. Would you recommend an area where I can prospect for a few days? Your expertise is much appreciated I am looking forward to hear from you Thank you! Kind regards
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 10 ай бұрын
I don't know what to tell you my friend. Watch my video on where to find gold in Nevada. There is a lot less nugget gold in southern Nevada than there is in Northern Nevada. If you are doing this soon, we've had a lot of snow and rain in the last couple weeks and the placer areas are pretty muddy in places and could be rough even for AWD. You don't want to join a club to access their claims. You could just go out and trespass on other folks claims, but its not like I am going to recommend a spot for you to do that. Nugget hunting is a skill that is learned. As a comparison, imagine if I told you I wanted to try art for a couple days - to see if I was really good and successful as an artist - in a couple days. Not trying to be rude, but just trying to be realistic.

I love the ancient placer mines just up on the river banks! So you can pan it as you’re digging at the same time!
