Hello mate! I hope you're keeping well and safe? How thick do you usually lay your base (hardcore) and sand cement for the slabs? Is 100mm hardcore and 3 inches of sand/cement for the slab enough? Could I lay 4 inches of sand/cement or is that too much?

Hi Ash, all good thank you, a sub base will always depend on how soft the ground is that your digging out. As long as you feel its firm enough a usually a 100mm sub base is good, normally Type 1 is ok but I tend to use a Lean Mix which is a semi dry concrete mix as it will forma Rigid paving system. mortar bed should never be more than 50mm as it tends to get expensive then, get all your levels nice and flat ad even.
