Greenville is a city in the county seat of Darke County, Ohio. Greenville is full of history from native Anne Oakley, to the renown historic Treaty of Greenville which opened the northwest territory settlement. Anne Oakley was born in Darke County Ohio in 1860 and died in Greenville Ohio in 1926. Anne Oakley was an American sharpshooter who developed her hunting skills as a child to provide food for her family in Western Ohio. Her skills made her famous. Lakota leader Sitting Bull named her "Little Sure Shot". Anne traveled around the world touring with Wild Bill's Wild West Show in 1885. She is buried in Greenville, Ohio at Brock Cemetery. The Garst House in Greenville is a historic building, on the National Register of Historic places. Today is a local history museum operated by Darke County Historical Society. Downtown is warm and friendly with picturesque architecture and historic landmarks.
