What's your current city's biggest downside? 🤔
@OldJackWolf
@OldJackWolf 8 күн бұрын
Its location south of the Mason Dixon line. The heat will kill you first. (That's the title of a book that should be required reading.) And its topography is dangerous since the regions hydrology is changing. And expect taxes to increase since they're still cleaning up from Helene still.

Just moved here two months ago (Greer). People are very friendly, but the only negative I've noticed is that people drive like New Jersey drivers.....hey, you know that clicky thing on your steering column....it's called a turn signal...how about using it?

I’m originally from “up north” and have lived in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi, but let me tell you, I’m a Northerner who absolutely LOVES Greenville just the way it is. The slower pace of life, the balance of things to do (not too much, but not too little), it’s just perfect. Maybe it’s because I’m originally from a small roller coaster city in Ohio (if you know, you know). Thanks for the video and the channel! Many of my family have relocated to Greenville County, and we’ve all fallen in love with the city. Even the "Bible Belt Hours" LOL

Visited downtown Greenville 2 years ago. I really liked it. They need to start thinking about a mass transit system. Some kind of mini subway/tram system. With station stops in Simpsonville, Mauldin, various shopping strips Greenville all the way to Greer. Operate from 6am to midnite

@@RenaldotheRealtor - Thanks there's a KZbinr who lives abroad and has traveled all over and noticed traffic is a problem in every city he's been to. He made a comment that got me thinking. He said traffic and congestion is one problem that all world leaders regardless of type of government or regime have decided not to solve and not to be bothered with. It can be solved if they wanted to; as seen from the long outdoor escalator in Hong Kong ( possible half mile long) to how effective travelators in airports are (they even call them moving sidewalks) to cable cars to bring you up mountains, monorails used even by Disneyworld for decades, various light rail systems, etc.

A mini subway/tram station is gonna bring unwanted traffic to this small quaint town. The idea has pros (i.e., taking the train versus driving the car to lessen the traffic) but cons.

@silkemueller1391

I was thinking the same when i was there a couple of years ago. It should be a subway to not destroy downtown. Or close it off and have it as a pedestrian area only where only the tram is allowed to drive through. And then having 2-3 different train systems that go to travelers rest, pickens, clemson, fountain inn, simpsonville, greer and connecting to charlotte airport as well as greenville airport and to charlottes tram system. The rails are there. Its just a matter of building trainstations, promote them and keep them affordable as well as convenient for commuters. In germany where i grew up trams are driving from 5:30am or so until midnight. Rushhour ever 10 minutes and no rush hour every 20 min to 1h. Busses same thing but they run all night. That would be so cool and well progressive. But i would put the tram in the town underneath so its not destroying the flair

I would love to see that come to fruition! This place is going to keep growing now that the secret is out. So those are some great ideas that would really transform the area. Traffic is the main complaint people have so it's time for long term solutions like those

Don’t hold your breath - they can’t even get this traffic lights right and you think they can put in trains. Stop building developments that exit onto two lane roads!

Very cool and informative vlog! I am seriously looking at South Carolina as a retirement destination. I plan to visit Greenville in the spring of 2025, before I retire from my federal job. I would like to set up a consultation about transitioning to the area or maybe signing a year's lease. BTW, I visited the major cities of the lowcountry earlier this year and I liked it alot. I'm single, no children, love quiet, nature, libraries, and I intend to work on a flexible schedule. Also, being near medical facilities and a major hospital system is important to me.

@damerochelle4014 Thank you very much! I'm glad you really liked the low country! It's a very different vibe down there so if Greenville isn't the right place for you then at least you have that area. Based on what you said though, I think you have a great chance at loving Greenville! I would be happy to talk to you more about it so feel free to call, text or email me. I live in Naples FL, the alligators are fat and lazy they don't chase anyone 😂 people from up north love to retire here for the beach and the weather we have city and for those who want acres there's Golden gate estates starting at an acre and a quarter up to 10 acres of land. Did Greenville get hit by the Hurricane? What are some natural disasters that occurs in SC?
@RenaldotheRealtor
@RenaldotheRealtor 4 ай бұрын
Greenville was hit by Helene, which was technically a tropical storm when it got to us. It was devastating because this area doesn't usually have to worry about tropical storms or hurricanes. Since 1851, there have been less than 22 tropical storms, tropical depressions and hurricanes combined that have passed through Greenville county according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Earthquakes happen periodically in Greenville County, usually in the mountains near the North Carolina border. There are a couple fault lines up there. The quakes are usually too small for anyone to feel even if you are in the mountains when they happen. Wildfires aren't a big risk but they do happen in the forests. 98% of the time it's due to some form of human activity. With the largest one being from someone's camp fire they didn't put out on Pinnacle Mountain in 2016. So natural disasters happen here, but. Not too often and they are rarely devastating
