Greenwood Bonsai

Күн бұрын

In this video Corin addresses some old carving on this Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora). After deciding the best front for the tree Corin begins to improve the deadwood by re-carving.
Finally he adds detail and tone by burning in the detail with a Dremel type tool.

It is the working on trees that is the fun part of Bonsai is an approach that I fully agree with, yes you can admire a tree but taking a tree from pre Bonsai to planted in an enhancing pot is the kind of long term project that draws people into the hobby and these videos encourage people in tree development with clarity and explanation.

I don't know how many times I've burned a piece of wood with my Dremel, then spent an hour or so sanding it away. I never realized that I could make that burn part of my finished design. And I never thought of deliberately burning in design elements. You keep your eyes and ears open and you can learn useful things every day.

The new carving looks so much better than the white stained wood. Is there a clear preservative, such as polyurethane, that could be used to preserve the new carving? Also, I think removing the moss would help and a different shape and color of pot. The tree is looking great. Enjoy your ideas with the bonsai.
