Hey guys, as some of you have pointed out here in the comments this saw is actually the first generation of 80V chainsaws from Greenworks. I've been made aware of there being a second and a third generation saw now. Although this may be an older version, I've been extremely impressed with how its performed so far. I've used it multiple times now around the property and have zero complaints. If the price point continues to be low for this saw I highly recommend giving it a try. Also, I was also made aware that the chainsaw tool is attached to the chainsaw and slips into a little space underneath the handle. Thank you all for watching.

For you Costco shoppers out there, this saw is on sale in March 2024 for $320. Included with the saw is a 4 AH battery + charger, bar tool, 100 mL bar/chain oil, 2 spare chains and a hard carrying case. It is a newer model than the one shown here. There is no power button, just the safety interlock and speed trigger.

Thanks for finding this! That's an awesome deal. I've come to learn that having extra chains for this saw are a must! I still use it all the time for firewood.

Curious...a lot of the reviews of Greenworks saws talk about the chain coming off often. Have you (or others) had this problem? Thanks.

Hey good deal! I just used it again for some spring cleaning around the property and am still really happy with how it’s performing. I did misspeak in the video and I was able to find the scrench! It’s underneath the handle and built into the saw and is not your typical chainsaw tool. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoy your new saw!

A blade adjustment is wrench is included and fell out of it (don't need to purchase a separate one), this is how I knew it had one. It is at the bottom back of the handle, it is also black and hard to see.

how do you compare tree felling with the battery chainsaw vs gas? I cant decide which to get, greenworks 60cc equivalent battery or a 60-70cc gas. I will mostly use it to fell trees 10-20 inch diameter.

So glad to see you post another video!!! Wow, a chainsaw review!!! I cannot wait to get one!!! You mentioned you go through 5-6 cords of wood each winter, any idea of how many you went through this winter? Whoa, I was expecting to see a Stihl. I cannot wait to hear more about the Husqvarna 572 XP pro!!! That is a great combination of tools. The battery powered saw for light to medium work and the Husqvarna for the medium to large jobs! That is great you can share the same battery platform as the snow blower. That in itself is a force multiplier in my opinion!!! Those extra batteries will come in handy while the snow blower is in hibernation until next winter. Nice one two punch!!! I love that you do your reviews outdoors!!! BTW: Killer sawhorses!!! Hehehehe, can't help but notice Lolly mugging for the camera!!! Wow, that is crazy light!!! Very easy to disassemble / assemble, definitely a plus! Funnels, we don't need no stinking funnels!!! 😊 It was pretty quiet, and the beauty is when it is off, it is off!!! Even the dead trees on your property look amazing!!! 😊 Yikes, I missed the story about cutting your leg with the chainsaw!!! Holy crap, I need to rewatch some older videos again. Not sure how I missed that. Glad you are okay! That saw made quick work of those limbs. I really like it when you release the trigger, there is zero sound. Wow, that Greenworks saw dropped that tree like a bad habit. I hope you do a "how to cut down a tree" video one of these days. I think I have the basics, but I am sure I am missing a ton of safety knowledge. Damn, that was a big tree once it was on the ground! Plenty of firewood to be collected from that guy!!! That tree looked about 24 inches at the base. Is that close? I was pretty impressed with the 2 AMP hour battery. Completely agree, you would have finished the tree np with one of those 4 AMP hour from the snow blower, probably tackled another tree when you were done! What will you do with the stump? Burn it or will you break out the MIGHTY Kubota and de-root that thing? 😊 Love the bonfire at the end with Lolly just hanging around in the background!!! Nice addition to your Fall/Winter firewood supply!!! BTW: Your property looks great! Looks like spring is about to explode any minute!!! Can’t wait for the next video!!! Be safe and stay well AND don’t cut yourself with the chainsaw!!!

Yes! I know it's definitely been awhile. With all the snow we had been getting I was kind of running out of content ideas, but I have a few lined up for the coming weeks that I hope you'll enjoy - which started with this one! Yeah 5-6 cords is a complete estimate - I haven't measured yet with the new woodshed setup, but that's my guess. I felt like we were using A LOT of wood this year, so I actually felt the need to conserve and started letting the fires go out at night to do so. It's warm enough to go without fires now and we're just using our furnace to heat at the moment, but we used all of the wood except about 4' of the last stacked row. Aha! Yes I switched to the dark side.. I had done some research and ultimately decided with Husqvarna for the new saw. I'm hoping this makes firewood gathering much easier/faster! Yeah I think using both saws for the same common goal is a good plan. Ultimately, I hope that by using both saws - it'll extend the life of both. I did buy the three year extended warrant on the Greenworks Saw as well. Yeah I definitely like doing the videos outdoors. I haven't quite found a good setup indoors for filming/audio I feel like. Yes! The best sawhorses. I believe you have the same pair? Lol Overall it was a pretty easy saw to manage! If you've used a chainsaw in the past - this thing is a breeze! Haha no funnels needed here! I've actually never told the story of cutting my leg with a saw! This was probably six years ago or so. Long story short I wasn't wearing chaps and was limbing a tree to gain access into it. I cut a branch above me and it kind of fell towards me, and so I brought the saw down and the underside of the saw grazed my right upper leg just as I was letting off of the trigger. It was pretty superficial and didn't hit bone, but turned the area into hamburger. I have a nice scar from it! It dropped the tree pretty well! No complaints at all for a battery operated saw! I don't know if I'm quite the right person to explain how to cut a tree down if I'm being honest. I also have the basics down, but as far as technical instructions and verbiage.. I may not be the right person. I would love to learn to use wedges more, and fell trees in any direction. There's so much to learn! I don't think it was quite 24" at the base.. The 18" bar was bigger than the base of the tree. I'd say it was maybe 16". It was a nice, medium to large sized tree :) Aha I will probably let the stump sit and dry out for the summer. When I read this question my mind went to drilling into it and making a Swedish fire torch like thing out of. That may not be the best idea! Lol maybe someday I'll try and pull it out! So this white fir is perfect campfire wood and will go towards the firewood stand supply! It was fun burning all of the branches will Lolly. Spring in North Idaho is good for burning that's for sure. Thanks so much for watching and for catching up on all these videos!! Hope you guys are well. -Danny

I run two, 2.0 ah batts. and I never have to wait on a battery to continue working. Our acreage is mostly Pine and some Aspen. I can work any size tree and never run out of battery before the other batt. is charged. I also run a 20" bar with a 68-drive link chain and I like the saw even better than stock. Good luck with your saw, I love my Gen-1. 😎

Yeah I've been thrilled with how well the battery life is and how many cuts I can get with both sizes of the batteries. It's very impressive. So you run a 20" aftermarket bar on yours? I would love to know where you found yours and what it is!
@RG-oj8br

@@theidahopanhandlers I run the 20" bar that comes stock on the Dewalt 60V 20" saw (DCCS677). You can buy the bar as a part from Home Depot and other places. The stock saw runs an A041 tail mount type bar so any bar that is an A041 will work. By using the stock A041 (not something modified) bar mount you are assured the bar oiling system functions properly. I buy my chains online from Frawley's saw shop. The stock (low kickback) chain is # 91PX068G. You can also get a non-low kickback chain and it is # 91VXL068G.

Interesting, that would be good for a trail saw, for hunting and trapping, i wonder how it would do with a cainsaw winch on it, or a capstan winch? Now, that would make it a sweet tool. Does it have a removable dog?
@theidahopanhandlers
@theidahopanhandlers Жыл бұрын
I'll have to check on the dog today and see if it's removable so I'll get back to ya! I'm pretty darn impressed by this saw so far.. It's no comparison to the new Husky, but it does a fantastic job for what it is. The batteries last a good while too. I'd be curious if it could be used with a chainsaw winch as well.

Look at the Tail of the handle and pull out your Chain tool........ It isn't a Scrench - It is for the Bar Nuts and Adjuster only.

@@theidahopanhandlers They're up to a 3rd gen now. The newest one is suppose to be quite a bit more powerful, even though it doesn't have 21700 cells in the batteries (That I know off). Personally, the one you have has the most premium feel. The newer ones don't feel as nice, but they do work. I like the look and feel of the Gen 1 80v saw. The oil reservoir is also pretty generous. But don't forget to check it, I forget every once in awhile. I got so use to topping off the oil when I top off the gas, that I tend to forget with a battery saw. Lol

It's all starting to click as to why mine may have been on sale. I obviously haven't delt with the newer generations of the 80V saws, but I agree with you that the feel of this saw is pretty supreme. I've used it a handful of times now around the property and have been really impressed so far. I haven't even sharpened it yet, and the chain is still cutting as if it was brand new. I will also agree that it's easy to forget about the bar oil! Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video!
