Comparison test of 40v and 80v battery powered Greenworks GMax single stage snow blowers. Difference between 40v 2Ah and 80v 2Ah. Lets put these two tools to the test to see which one I like the most and can they replace my big gasoline snow blower and hand shovel? I wish they made an 80 volt two stage like so many other companies make. We've had out 80 thrower for over 5 years and still seems to work OK. Heavy wet snow and really deep snow is the downfall, taking half a cut helps it work better.

Nate totally agree on 80v vs 40v as you proved with the snow blowers. My experience is with battery operated lawnmowers. The 80v comes close to gas powered in mulching and cut. The 40v models bog down in high grass and don't proved a clean mulching cut as do the 80v models. I have the 80v line of Lowes Kobalt models, including the mower, leaf blower and edger which are made in the Green works factories. Wouldn't go back to gas after using these 80v products. Thanks Anthony! I mow about 3 acres of grass so i havent been convinced the battery ones will handle that yet. Maybe the commercial ones will but they are really pricey. I'm keeping an eye on it, I would love all my "on property" tools and vehicles to be electric.

I've had the 40v on clear 10" of wet snow but you have to go slower. 80v hasnt seen that yet but will soon.

GREAT TEST!! 1st time to the channel and had to subscribe. My driveway is 150 feet long and 24 feet wide. Is there enough battery to clear a driveway the size of mine with 4-6'' of snow? If you get a big snow fall of 8''-12'' can the machine clear it if you take a 1/2 cut instead of the full width of the blower? Thanks

You might make it with a 5ah battery but I would plan two 4ah for that size drive way. You can clear partial machine width if needed.

I didn’t realize an 80v 2.0ah would have longer run time as the same AH batteries of different Voltage. Interesting.

It won't necessarily. It has more energy (Wh) but they also tend to use more power so run time will vary based on that not just the voltage.

A 2ah 80v battery has double the power of a 2ah 40v battery. Volts * Amps = Power (watts), so if you simply double the voltage, you have double the available power. You need a 4ah 40v battery to have the same capacity. Granted it all depends on what the motor does, but allows it to draw a smaller amperage from the higher voltage to get the same power...or use the same amperage and have "double" the power. Depending on what it does, will affect the actual runtime.

Ah is a measure of capacity, not amps/current as you are treating it. Ah x volts is Wh which is energy. So 40v 2Ah and 80v 2Ah has the same capacity but the 80v one has twice the energy.

Man that some terrible snow you are going through I would not advise you to use your blowers on that, it could wreck the blades.
