You forgot Irfan Pathan. He was getting compared with Kapil Dev for a while. Instead of focusing on bowling which was his real talent, they pushed him up the batting order. They really tried hard to make him an allrounder. He couldn't succeed in batting. His bowling also suffered. He was dropped. And his career ended in disappointment.

Senior players were against him, but junior players were in favor of him. Greg was against the superstar culture, and none of the senior players were ready to give that up. Ganguly leaked that email through a Bengali journalist. Ganguly was the real villain in the 2007 World Cup. He played very slowly, and the players who supported him deliberately played slowly and poorly to remove Dravid from captaincy and Greg from coaching.

Had Dravid dropped him in the World Cup, the result could have been different for India.
