His thing is substitutions. So his general philosophy is that a substitution is great if it's like 70-80% like the real thing. And as a person that struggles with not so great eating habits, it helps a looot. Another thing is that the people that can afford his book can probably afford to invest in more "high end" substitutions BUT he always tells his audience that there is a way, no mater what. Ethically and scientifically speaking, he is one of the very few fitness influencers that should be followed on here

There's a massive difference between the available 100% peanut ones for some reason, I recently moved to Germany but am still "importing" Dutch peanut butter whenever I get the chance. The stuff I can get in the stores here... I'd probably prefer the sugar-salt-palm-oil version too.

Totally right about not needing to be vegan to try vegan foods. I've tried 2 different versions of vegan chicken nuggets and I was mind blown. It wasn't just the taste. It was the texture. There was no way that those nuggets were vegan. Or so I thought. Perhaps someone should do a video on top 10 foods that no one could believe were vegan.

For the part where you’re talking about the vegan whopper with cheese: we have a restaurant nearby that serves a portion of free nachos to everyone who swaps the beef patty on a conventional burger with the vegan „meaty“ patty. I think this is really cool! This is not for vegans obviously, because the rest of the burger isn’t vegan, but I think it can get people interested to at least try one time - and that’s one animal patty less consumed, so a win in my books :)

As a peanut butter lover I don't know if the hate on nuts as a protein source is entirely justified. Plain peanuts are over 18% protein by calories, so a 2000kcal / day diet consisting of only peanuts would still net you more than 90 grams of protein. It's not a super high protein food, but I wouldn't consider it low either. Just sayin', hate on one of my favorite foods, I gotta respond.

At least Coach is trying to educate us. It's a ton of protein powder, sure, but sticking to a calorie budget that must be high protein when you're refusing an entire food group is going to require sacrifice. For this, you're giving up hard earned money, nutritional content of real food, and time to pop real corn. At least it is still healthy and tasty. And that makes it better than last time. His peanot butter is delicious! It's got this creamy bean dip texture, but very high protein, low fat peanut butter flavor. Mock Coach all y'all like, his peanot butter is all it. Perfect for peanut butter pigs. When you stop eating junk, real food tastes good. Those hamburger bun pastries, they're not donuts, but, they are inexpensive, they are tasty, and they aren't complete garbage, like frying white flour dough in corn oil and dredging it in an additional 100 calories of sugar. And given high protein and vegan are two concepts hard to merge, I think he's done well. I'm willing to eat peanot butter, but I am not giving up my cheddar cheese. Fat free cheese makes vegan food like potatoes tasty, plus it adds 5g of protein.

I think a lot of people don't realize it's not just the protein amount but the quality of the protein itself. If you're getting your protein from soy and pea, for example, this is a whole different thing than getting your protein from bread. Yes, carbs have protein but are so low quality, tbh I don't even count them as protein. I get around 160 grams of protein per day, but only 120 of that is actually high quality, the rest is just from rice, veggies etc. This is especially important if you're a bodybuilder. So I think Greg was spot on with that video.

I'm not sure how you can make a review of a cook book without cooking what is in the book. You can do better than this. If you don't like it after trying it, that's one thing, but why talk about something you haven't tried when talking about taste. The recipes look like an idiot could make them and I doubt that you're an idiot so why refuse to make it for the sake of the review unless you have an agenda that you're trying to promote. Just doesn't make sense.

So this is a genuine question. When you say “don’t sweat the small stuff” like milk in cookies, is that more so for psychological purposes to keep people from quitting? If it’s a large manufacturer wouldn’t you assume the amount of milk (animal products etc) is still damaging? Just curious. 🙂 I’m not even vegan but I appreciate your videos.

I think she means it's for the sake of your own sanity, to constantly be on the edge and be paranoid about ingredients isn't a viable option for most people. I consider myself vegan for 8 years now. Never buy or consume eggs, milk, cheese or meat (meat is the ultimate no-no) but every now and then I'd just pick up something vegetarian along vegan food if I'm on the go or abroad (like a chocolate bar or a cookie) and I don't have a problem with that. Many vegans would argue that "oh you're not a real vegan then" but I think this isn't about labels but everybody do the best they can reducing consumption of animal products. I'm 99% vegan and I'm 100% happy with that 🙂
@katelijnesommen

Yeah, she's said that she thinks it's important not to go too hard on the 'all or nothing' mentality (that definitely does exist in the vegan community). People are more likely to succeed and continue as vegans when they don't feel like they've 'failed' when they consume a small amount of non vegan food.
@harmonicaveronica
@harmonicaveronica 2 жыл бұрын
A lot of people get really bogged down in labels and not understanding what certain ingredients are which can make them want to give up because it's too hard. I'm not vegan, but I often look at labels anyway out of curiosity and if there's a similar vegan option I'll typically choose that instead. I know there are random animal products with weird names, but usually what I'll do is look at the end of the list to see if there are allergen warnings! But even this confuses some people - "contains milk" is pretty clear and "processed on equipment that also processes milk" is clear, but I've seen confusion about "may contain milk" with people thinking that maybe there's surprise milk in there when really it just means the same as "processed on shared equipment" or "made in a facility that also processes." All that to say is that if you find overwhelming labels to be the thing that stands in the way between you and veganism, it's much more impactful to not worry about ingredient lists right away

"A doughnut to me is a fried, airy, delicious thing that you don't try to make healthy". Sounds pretty much the same as "Parmesan is a cheese ripened this and this many years in the region of Parma, not this vegan pseudo-crap made of starch and coconut oil" ;) Let people eat healthy versions of doughnuts and call them doughnuts!

Hey Swayze! Thank you very much for your content. You're one of the few youtubers I've been following for a few months and I was wondering if it helps you to monetize your content if I don't skip the ads. Does it really matter? Again, thank you very much and sorry if it's a beginner question. Cheers!

Greg admits in his videos he loves sweet foods. So your correct about that. Also they sell a microwave popcorn cooker and it's fairly cheap. You put it in the microwave and cook it for maybe 3 minutes. Then add what you like. When I went on a diet I added, with a spray, apple cider vinegar and salt. Kind of like salt and vinegar chips.

Try mixing powdered peanut butter with real peanut butter :) There's enough fat to go around. It makes me happy. I also always add more salt to the powdered stuff especially if it's going solo. His anabolic ice cream doesn't have bananas. He has videos on it as well as some other fitness guys, but it has a good amount of ice and guar gum for thickness. I HATE banana based ice cream. It angers me lol. Lastly, Brian Turner has a lot of high-protein vegan cooking videos if you're interested.

Swayze, I think you should've at least tried the recipes he has on his channel if you don't want to buy the book. It really wasn't fair to him, especially considering your stance on recipes. I remember you saying that it bothered you that people comment on recipe blogs that they changed the recipe and it was good/bad, which means they didn't actually try the recipe. Or at least something to that effect.

Lots of sweet nasty stuff. Who eats white bread? What for? Peanut butter organic etc with no sugar is fine just limit your quantities.. Add to sauces. Vegan too often contains too many big carbs. Healthy? He is hollding nasty peanut that no one should buy. Perhaps because he burns up so much during workouts he can eat this way. Pea protein mixed with coconut cacao etc is delicious. No sugars ever needed

@@fleabitz1474 Meaning 10 cups is 400 calories. It's a high calorie food loaded in fat (macronutrient profile similar to doritos). 6 cups smart pop about 100 calories.

@@Editor_Steve I see what you're saying. Skinny Pop does come in 100 calorie bags though that make me happy, and at least popcorn has more volume than Doritos. I don't have a microwave so Smart pop wasn't on my radar. At home I use an air popper. For the apparently enormous volume of popcorn Greg ingests I can see why Skinny Pop isn't looking so skinny.

what does he do that popcorn takes half an hour to make in a pot? I make caramel popcorn in a pot. Bit of oil, heat it up (what, one or two minutes?) put in the popcorn and sugar, within 3-5 minutes everything is popped and coated in melted sugar. That's it. It would be complelety burned if I took any longer to make it.

The girl in the video unfortunately just doesn’t get it. It’s not supposed to taste exactly the same . Even if it’s 70’percent as good who cares. If you eat out of the cookbook you will gain muscle and lose fat. Sometimes making these substitutions is the only way to stay on a diet forever and have it become a lifestyle instead of yo-yo dieting . I know this cause I’ve lived it

If you get the book and try the recipes, then I will like your video, even if you do mot like the recipes, or if you think they are bad or whatever you think...? It would be a valuable opinion from someone who actually tried the product... Being honest, your opinion in this video is wothless...
