I always used to listen to Robbie Vincent Saturday lunchtime then Soul Spectrum with Greg. In 1978 I was 20 and I took my Mk11 Cortina car down to the South of France and I taped several Greg Edwardes Shows to play in the car. In 1978 the music was great.

Greg Edwards blasting out of the radio, early Saturday evenings, whilst you're were getting ready for a night of clubbing late evening. Greg played so much hot American imports - funk, soul, jazz - that you could only obtain from providers, like Contempo Records off Oxford Street - a poky little place full of the best transatlantic black music in the world. Great times.

Turns the clock back to the early 80s Saturdays - Robbie Vincent on Radio London at lunchtime whilst I made the Ford Escort roadworthy, and Greg's Sould Spectrum on Capital from 5.00 to wind me up for the night out. Happy days, not a care in the world (apart from my bank balance - or lack of it!)

I worked with Greg a few times at Epping Forest country club in essex, really nice guy, allways happy, allways smiling. Thanks for posting this clip!

I still have a couple cassettes which I recorded live off of “Capital Radio 194 we’ve got all the hits and more” back in the late 70s, I dusted them off today and they still sound surprisingly good after 40 years, this guy Greg (piles of smiles and stacks of wax” really introduced me to soul music and it’s never left me. Thanks Greg.

I would never have discovered a ton of brilliant artists if it weren't for Greg! One of my favourites that he used to play was Dear Limmertz by Azymuth....I could not remember the whole song for years and then one day I remembered the band and went through the tracks and found it.....and it was as if I could see a polaroid of me back in the day, I danced round my kitchen as if I was back in the 80s as a teenager! Music is so healing and gets to your soul.

In 2010 I was searching for Greg Edwards on the web and the first thing that came up was this KZbin video. From thousands of hours that Greg must have broadcast this short clip happened to be the one that contained my request from the USA. back in 1978. I never heard the request back in the day but was blown away and elated to come across it 32 years later. Thanks PaulJames. Awesome!!!

This is great to hear again. Does anybody remember Alex George, who did a Saturday night show on Capital a few years later? He also did a great show with really good jingles. I wonder what happened to him... "Rythmns and sounds, in leaps and bounds, alright all night on Capital, the biggest party in town" Sung by a lady with a great voice. A jingle to rival some of Robbie V's on radio 1. Strange what you remember from you youth:-)
