Greg Gefell - Lost Inside

Very good song and engaging performance but you need to be using a Gefell M930 for your vocals. Especially with a name like Gefell! It’s superior to that TLM103. The majority of the comparisons between these two mics usually ends up with Gefell on top. Gefell also makes an M930T which is the tube version of the same mic. Please leave that sibilant Neumann mic behind. No, I do not work for Microtek Gefell but please honor your namesake and follow my advice. You will thank me later. Cheers.

Haha! A Gefell lover here as well. Kudos! Btw... it’s MicroTECH, not TEK lol. Maybe in Germany they spell it differently? I stumbled upon this video doing a search for a Gefell mic and voila! Maybe you did as well? 😂I agree with your view that he is using a much too shrill for his vox even though I like his singing and his composition...(and yes, almost shameful with his surname). He may be using a TLM102 and not a TLM103 if I’m not mistaken, but I agree; it still does not impress. But I will also add a caveat to your assessment: the Gefell 930Ts is what would favor his voice best more than the M930, although the M930 is very, very nice. The 930Ts has a transformer and gives it more of that analog saturation that flatters the singer, giving it that “velvety” sheen, not that the M930 wouldn’t suffice for his needs. What I like about Gefell is that it is run by engineers and not a marketing team, so you are getting a quality product, especially since both share that George Neumann legacy.
