Been forcing myself to use the jig more. I fish a lot of heavy coontail and the bitsy jig with a vile craw is my new fave.

I always have at least 2 jigs tied on. 7/16oz for docks and 9/16 for wind and milfoil

Hello Greg, Don Brooks here I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge I use a lot of your tips. My question is I never see y’all clean your bait and flipping and pitching into thick mats Hydrilla. I’m here in Northwest Florida with lots of Hydrilla and great fishing so question is how critical is grass on your Jig or creature bait?

I wish I could get fish on a jig. Everywhere I go I catch fish on some sort of soft plastic, but the second I throw on a jig nothing. I don't know if I am missing the bites or what.

Weekendairsoftwrrior Just keep at it. Some lakes are better for it than others.

It took me 3 years to get bit on a jig. As soon as you get bit everything falls into place, it's my favorite bait now. Go out fishing with only jigs until you catch some, that's what it took for me. When you don't have a fall back you learn to use them good pretty quickly, the mental hurdle is hard to overcome but it's worth putting in the time to get through.

Only take a jig with you nothing else. Make yourself learn the feel of a jig bite. Build your confidence and you will fall in love with a jig. Trust me.

I used a jig on a 2lbs, bass yesterday. After about 2 attempts, 15-20 each time, I finally got it to bite. Started bring it in and got it up out of the and it flop and came off. I hollered, yelled and screamed. What did I do wrong?

Doug I would guess that you didn't get the hook in past the barb. You need a sharp hook, and the right line and rod combo to suit your own hookset style. Only way to know that is trial and error, but a good place to start is a Medium Heavy rod and 20-lb mono or fluoro line....

My dad loves to jig fish but instead of catching fish he drinks heavily and beats me with a stick

Hack will be going to the Bitsy Bug and a spinning reel now that he's moved to MLF format to catch numbers of dinks instead of 5 hawgs a day LOL.
