Karl is incredibly competent and pragmatic in a lot of situations and it's only because Ricky wants to constantly take the piss out of him that his better ideas are made to seem stupid. There's always some kind of gold nugget in there that only a completely honest person could come up with, and even though I love the banter I like it when people take the time to dig through his thoughts seriously
