Hi Greg. Thank you for your insight. Because of the help you have given, when I went for a fence charger I went double the recommended size (Cyclops charger), and have not regretted that decision. It is a small additional cost to upgrade the size, but well worth it.

Fascinating. I think the standard "star" post we use in Australia is a stronger profile than a T, they're more a Y shape, and you can buy boxes of little wire clips to tie the wire on because it actually voids the warranty on the wire to pull it through the holes in the posts - but time is money, and the clips pay for themselves in speed. I've not seen any plastic or fibreglass driveable star posts here, though, that's brilliant - you don't have to use insulated post clips for hot wires!

Thank you for showing people how to care for the animals in the right way. Hopefully people that have them will learn a lot from you. Even though I am a city girl and do not farm, I have a lot of respect for how animals should be cared for. From Southwestern N.Y.

Hi Greg! What size Timeless post? 1.5" or 1.75"? What post spacing? Do you think a 2.1" Timeless would work well for a corner instead of the fiberglass post? Thanks for all the videos! Doc
@gregjudyregenerativerancher4 жыл бұрын
Either size post will work. The 1.75 diameter is a beefier post and works well for perimeter fencing. We use fiberglass or wood corners.

How do you keep it from grounding out when brush touches the wire?
@gregjudyregenerativerancher5 жыл бұрын
Never shut your fence off and use a big electric fence charger. The larger chargers actually dry up the sap in the green brush spot that touches the wire. It is the sap that conducts electricity. No sap, no drainage on your fence! When it rains, that is when you really need the big charger.
@adriennemiller16425 жыл бұрын
Greg Judy Regenerative Rancher what brand charger do you prefer; how big is "big", please & thanks
@gregjudyregenerativerancher5 жыл бұрын
@@adriennemiller1642 My favorite charger is the Stafix brand, followed by the Cyclops brand charger. How big is big, well it depends on how big your farm is and how many wires you are running. Give me those numbers and I can give you the size to get.
@adriennemiller16425 жыл бұрын
Greg Judy Regenerative Rancher I have about 1 1/2 acres - perimeter (longest run is 440’, shortest 150’ approx). Was just trying to get a feel for charger size. Thanks for your input!
@gregjudyregenerativerancher5 жыл бұрын
@@adriennemiller1642 You could get by with a 1 joule charger for your fencing. Most chargers are measured in Joules, think of horsepower of an engine. We run a 36 Joule on our biggest farms. One thing that puts pressure on your charger is long rainy periods where all vegetation is soaking wet. It is better to be a little bit overcharged than to buy a smaller charger that struggles in wet conditions.

Are you comfortable with 2 strands of high tensile on a perimeter fence for sheep and cattle that is located in an area that would not be adjacent to road frontage? Thanks for the video.

Can you use trees as fence posts? Can you just string the wire from tree to tree instead of post to post?

If I went with this fence and have goats, would I just run 4 or 5 wires? I just bought 10 acres and 2 sides are not fenced. The other 2 sides are barbed wire currently. We are going to eventually have some goats, pigs, and miniature cattle.
