I loved Greg Kinnear in Little Miss Sunshine and had the privilege of telling him so at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. At the opening of LMS at the LA Film Festival, there was a spontaneous standing ovation somewhere in the middle of the movie. It was such a fun flick!

I interned on "Later With Greg Kinnear" at the NBC Studios while in college. Saw him every day. Was an extra in several show skits and wrote and sold a joke he used on the show.

That's awesome. In the early Conan days, you'd hear rumblings that some NBC execs wanted to shift Greg up to Conan's spot, that show was almost like a rehearsal for him in case they lost faith for good. Were you an extra in the airline tips sketch by chance? :-p 😅
@jediknightjairinaiki5602 жыл бұрын
@@brycemcneil4404 Nope. I interned in '96, shortly before he left to go do movies. I was there from Sept. - Dec.. A couple of times I covered the phones for the assistant to Gary Considine, the Ex. Prod. of "Later". Greg's office was in the same large room. Once Helen called, wanting to speak with Greg, who was not in yet. I took the message and passed it on to the assistant when she returned from lunch. Come to find out Helen was Greg's wife, not Helen Hunt, who he co-starred with in "As Good As It Gets". Another time, I unintentionally bruised the ego of comedian Richard Jeni.

@@wisespidey A fare share. It was so much fun. I wish I could have continued with the show, but when my internship was over they weren't looking to hire anyone and I couldn't afford to continue living in California. One experience, independent from "Later . . ." was getting to meet Mara Wilson's (the little girl in "Mrs. Doubtfire") grandma. On the weekends I worked at the Suncoast Motion Picture Company store in the Burbank Mall and one day her grandma, I forget her name, came in looking to buy a copy of "Matilda". When she told me her granddaughter was in the film, I was expecting her to say she was an extra, but surprised me when she said her granddaughter starred in it. I asked, "You mean the studio didn't give her (mara) a copy?" To which her grandma said, " Nope. We have to buy a copy like everybody else."
