I remember the very first time I heard this when I was a teen of 14 back on the island of Puerto Rico in 1970. At the time we only had one or two American stations playing new music from the mainland as everything else on the island was either Salsa or a variety of Spanish speaking radio stations. I was laying out listening to one of the American stations and this came on. It left such an impression on me and the lyrics gave me goosebumps. I ran out and brought the album immediately. Epitaph is still one of my all time favorite songs from King Crimson, and after more than 50 years, still gives me goosebumps to this day.

what about Robert fripp? I know that he's still living, and I feel so bad because I didn't even know about King crimson until recently. I listen to the song epitaph, and it just elicits so many emotions in me. I go from Justin deep thought about my life about life in general to being seriously crazily nostalgic, the music it affects me in some type of way it's like there's always a tear in the corner of one of my eyes like, like I don't know what I'm feeling. I mentioned this because Robert fripp wrote this Yes I realize that Greg lake was a wonderful singer, but Robert Fripp there's a ridiculously gifted let's leave talon out of it for a second I could have said ridiculously talented but he is ridiculously gifted and he wrote that he wrote those songs he wrote those measures of music, and I understand why people are so butthurt about him and his wife KZbin show Sunday lunch I guess because he was damn near a cruel taskmaster in his art he was a perfectionist from everything I've read. from the music that this man has made he can afford to have a good time with his family his legacy is ridiculous, I don't say these things from the standpoint of a music historian or even an audio file I say this from just a common man that is affected by the music he wrote. like I said earlier this is not an affront to Greg lake, but I'm always reading about Greg lake or other people that was affiliated with Robert Fripp, but not Robert Fripp. when does this man get the accolades, I think that it should be mandatory from here on out to acknowledge people while they're living instead of waiting until they die I think that Mr Fripp and all other great artists need to hear how great they are before they pass away from here on out. this one piece of music has so enriched my life. I would like to thank you Mr Fripp

When my two older brothers gave me this King Crimson album for my birthday in the early 70's it opened up an entirely new world of music to me. "21st Century Schizoid Man" leapt out of the speakers and blew my mind. Greg Lake had a fantastic, powerful voice and I regret not having ever seen him live. Thanks, Dane and Bob.

King Crimson "Epitaph" The wall on which the prophets wrote Is cracking at the seams Upon the instruments of death The sunlight brightly gleams When every man is torn apart With nightmares and with dreams Will no one lay the laurel wreath When silence drowns the screams Confusion will be my epitaph As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Between the iron gates of fate The seeds of time were sown And watered by the deeds of those Who know and who are known Knowledge is a deadly friend If no one sets the rules The fate of all mankind, I see Is in the hands of fools The wall on which the prophets wrote Is cracking at the seams Upon the instruments of death The sunlight brightly gleams When every man is torn apart With nightmares and with dreams Will no one lay the laurel wreath When silence drowns the screams? Confusion will be my epitaph As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Crying Crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Crying

Where does this music come from ? I hear most of the notes I liked from the original King Crimson recording, yet some parts are not there, or played with different instruments : Robert Fripp's acoustic guitar have disappeared, making this mix more of a Greg Lake thing to the audience. Yet I didn't miss it considering the particular circumstances. A very good alternate take, and I'd really like to know how this was done... Thanks 🍀

You can call this "prog" or whatever, but I don't recognise a difference between this and classic Heavy Metal. ...and the same goes for '21st Century Schizoid Man', as well.
