came back to this game a few weeks ago after the patches and changes. with an upgraded pc this game is my new favorite thing. it feels cozy. like comfort foot. no crazy crashes, good stories, solid gameplay. this is now an 8 out of 10 for me

I also more recently have discovered that role playing in Bethesda universes helps to create memorable experiences and enhances the game experience. It's not the type of game that is there primarily for your consumption, it's a world for you to engage in. Creating a backstory and aligning your decisions with those character traits is so impactful. Whats best is on a second playthrough once you understand the world and it's opportunities and obstacles, crafting a story within those parameters. That said, the best game for this is Fallout New Vegas.

This video really helped me come to terms with how I will move forward playing. I have had such a blast with this game, but finding out you lose all of your stuff with NG+ felt a little like a rug pull, but the concept of finding and living in a universe that suits my character feels like the best way to proceed. Great video!

Finally finished the game after 175 hours. I LOVE that Greg had this experience with this game, the first time role-playing in a game, but gotta say my experience with NG+ was VERY different. Losing all the ships, weapons, comparisons and more was FAR too much in exchange for a starborn spacesuit and a pretty bad starborn ship. Immediately went back to previous save where I will pick up for DLC. NG+ made everything I had built over 175+ hours seems worthless.

Just started my ng+ the first 10hrs of this game was kind of frustrating and boring felt like it was going to be a 7 out of 10, but then this game has gotten its hooks in me and has given me many memorable experiences. I did over 100hrs and rolled credits on Badur's Gate in the first two weeks of that games pc release and thought it was my clear game of the year but this game is beginning to challenge that assumption.

I highly recommend when you finally find your universe to get Andreja back that you do the 4 Faction quests. Some of the best quests and surprises in the game come from them. I just finished the game for the first time and had done everything and ended up with Andreja. I’m curious about the payoff with NG+ but I want to come back to my universe where my people and Andreja is. So I’m not sure if I’ll play it or watch some KZbin videos of it and just finally start an outpost/home with Andreja and do all the side quests slowly when I feel like playing. 9/10 game for me

Greg I had the issue landing back on the planet after going to the eye. You need to get scanned so if you jump to another system then back to Jemison you could have landed.

Wasn't a progression stopper. The mission beforehand, if you steal the artifact from the scavenger, you get a bounty. Once you enter Jemison airspace for a scan and deal with the bounty, it keeps the planet as unlandable. You need to warp to another system then warp back to Alpha Centauri after addressing your bounty and it becomes landable.

Do character personalities differ for everyone’s game? I ask because my Andreja was exactly how Greg described his Sarah. She was constantly disapproving of the slightest decision I made (I don’t even play evil). Sarah was the one for me who was chill with me being a bit more morally grey. So odd. My first play through I did all the side quests and all the factions stuff, that going into ng+ idk what to do. Maybe I just skip eveything and do it the 10 times to get max and then save the last save as my game to do whatever I want but idk if I knew capped myself by doing everything in my first play through

Multiverse fatigue or not I desperately want to see a game that incorporates the new game plus elements of Starfield crossed with Merrins portal creation/traversal in Jedi Survivor and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart in some kind of fantastic multiverse adventure. My first thought was it would be cool if the Spiderman sequels could play with the Spiderverse concept but hearing about Starfields use of the concept in this way I would just love a dedicated multiverse game.

On the multiverse stuff, for me it feels different in that I thought: I'm familiar with the concept, how it gets used to do things like being comical or worldbuilding, but it still hurts to have that comrade no longer with me. To try rebuild that with ones in the other verses are, in many ways, just not the same.

I had the same New Atlantis bug tried the other way that you did but Barrett is dead. To fix the bug I had to leave the planet and grab jump back to Jamison to be scanned. Andreja is who I’m trying to romance too

Starfield has only gotten better, i came back after getting to lvl 13, i refused to play inventory simulator / waste level up points on encumbrance. new options & update are phenomenal. The Car is a freakin blast to pass off between friends going off a ramp/crater

​@@needum9212 I mostly mainlined the main story the first time through so I could watch all the content not worrying about spoilers so I didn't really do the faction quest lines. 2nd time through I picked to tell them I was Starborn, 3rd time I wanted to play through all the main storylines to see all the dialogue and what changed during the main story by picking the Starborn lines. 4th is now when I'm doing everything I can in the game.

this is fascinating. for me, i romanced Sam on the first playthrough, and at the unity my alter said that he ended up choosing to be reborn as well. When I eventually saw him in new game plus, I couldn't bring myself to romance him again because I knew he wasn't /my/ Sam. My Sam is somewhere out there in the multiverse. So now my game has this overwhelming sense of lonliness where there's nothing tethering me to any of thse universes, and I feel free to keep jumping through them on a whim.

Awesome to hear Greg's experience with this game. Almost had more fun listening to this than I had playing the game myself 😂 Felt that the main questline was a bit of a slog, but things definitely picked up towards the end. After watching this video, I feel like with NG+ I'm really just starting to play Starfield. Can't wait. Favorite bit of Kinda Funny content in recent memory. Thank you!

Oh my gosh I already loved the game one new game plus in I kinda wish I didn’t hear about this, but at the same time, I’m just stunned, I knew Todd was cooking but I’m floored that he was cooking this well. And it’s so neat, on the first playthrough I was confused why the starborn would be so thirsty for artefacts and why they cared. In new game plus I sorta felt the pull. But it seems like for you, trying to get back to a world where you can make it work with Andrejah has the ability to be the thing that really contextualises just how important the artefacts really are for the starborn which is a crazy merging of narrative and gameplay.

I am so glad I did not get the bug that prevented me saving Andreja. In my game I did land back on Jemison and was only partially sad when I found Sarah dead. She was not for me. Only Andreja will do. The thing I found so funny was when I went into a space fight in the Mantis' starship, and enemies screamed seeing me and ran away from the fight. That was definitely how they would react to seeing Batman.

I just finished my first run and I have to say, I agree 100% with Greg about the companions. I didn’t care for any until I met Andreja. I also had the same issue with the choice to defend the lodge or go to the eye. I went to the eye first (to save Andreja of course), and couldn’t land. Luckily, I was able to find a way to bypass the bug online. I reloaded to see how it would play out if I defended the lodge and another character died for me, not Andreja! Now I wonder if it’s random or based on some choice you made.

There is so much potential with the NG+ mechanic. Keep imagining a universe where everyone is a giant bug person instead of human and attacks on site unless you can pass a skill check to make them back off. I really hope they add more variations to what type of universe you can go into (if they havent already, I havent seen anyone other than Greg actually talking about this)

I gotta be honest, I got pretty turned off when it comes to Starfield at first few hours of playthrough. I only ever played Oblivion from Bethesda and I've beaten it twice, didn't like Fallout 4 and when I played Skyrim my taste in games was pretty specifically shaped already to the point that I just didn't want to invest that time into game this old (not just by release date itself but also many gameplay standards in general) but after watching this video and learning what NG+ is, I'm gonna play it through myself as thoughroughly as possible, then I'll reveal the truth to every single character that's possible on NG+ and then I'll "harvest" the outcomes in NG+2 and maybe even further... This shit just got me so excited again!😍 Also, thank You, Greg, for the way You explained everything, because assuming You're talking to people who already should've known what happened, You actually managed to not spoil too much to those who watched it and actually didn't know what was supposed to happen (and I still don't know most of it) so it's briliant!!

Friendly suggestion. Might be helpful to edit your casts a bit. Scripts are good too with an hour cast. Lots of good information, but the digressions not that fun to wade through to get to the point. I have to scroll to the end 52:00 to find the answers. The rest could be broken out to footnotes.

I'm close enough to the end that I knew what the basic premise of NG+ would be but thought it would only get a couple of tiny nods in content. It's really call that they have alternate options for the questline and distinct permutations etc. Anyway, I've never been able to gel with a Bethesda game before and I'm obsessed with this. Really glad I heard all of the legit complaints before I started so there wasn't any *false* hype going in, but what you do get is honestly pretty incredible. The only complaints I have *now I know what the game actually is* are incumbrance (spec up fast, and if you store stuff at the lodge regularly you can mostly manage it) and load times (which I'm kinda OK with). The star travel stuff could be more meaningful, but after the initial disappointment I think they made the right call on it.

I made the choice to go to the Eye because Sarah was there, and I couldn't bear to lose her. Apparently if your top affinity companion is at the Eye and you go save them, the Hunter kills your second highest affinity companion. I'm sorry Andreja, I couldn't lose Sarah.

I married Sarah and she died literally an hour later when I decided to progress the main quest. It was hysterical but man that sucked 😂

This game easily ran to GOTY for me. I’m 40 hours in and I haven’t don’t a single main mission yet. Getting lost in all these side quests that are so deep and interesting and then exploring the new planets they send me to, to fall into a random 8 hour side quest, and so forth. It’s so fun and addicting. It’s like if fallout 3 and mass effect had a baby, and I’ve been wanting a game like this for a long time. It really is a special game. What a year it’s been in 2023 and we still have phantom liberty, Spider-Man, Allan wake 2 and so much more. WOW
