White sand doesn't get hot because its composition is calcium carbonate, which is different from other minerals in the Pacific coast. Gringos, you have to come back to Cancún because you never went to a cenote... the Yucatan peninsula does not have rivers on the surface. Instead, all water currents run underground and when the roofs of the caves collapse, these wells emerge and some are very beautiful and swim 'mable. You definitely have to check them out. Besides, the largest city in the area, Mérida, is more than worth visiting. As a Mexican and adopted quintanarroense I can tell you that the Yucatán (which includes the states of Yucatán, Campeche and Quintana Roo) is, so to speak, a different country altogether. Make plans to come at least a couple of weeks. So be it.
@kinetickennons6 жыл бұрын
That is the best explanation of the sand I have ever heard! We need to spend at least a month in that region! There are so many beaches, ruins, and great cities all within 1-4 hours from one another!

Great comparison! I'd also put forward a Playa Del Carmen Vs. Puerto Vallarta comparison sometime too. I agree with all of your points, I've lived in both regions, but if you'd considered Playa Del Carmen I think it would be the potential winner as it has a great beach vs. city life balance and it's a walkable city as well (your main complaint with Cancun's hotel zone, and I'd agree with that, walking around there is kind of miserable, it feels generic, like you're in Florida or something). The geography of Puerto Vallarta is quite beautiful too, the hills and 'old town' really shine - as I'm sure you noticed, the Yucatan's quite flat and filled with jungle and cenotes. Interestingly, I've also found that for tourists, the Yucatan attracts far more Europeans and Argentinians and PV gets the west coasters from the U.S. & Canada so that also contributes to a different 'flavor' as well. I used to love seeing all of the people that would visit PV from Guadalajara on the weekends, the city was rocking with Mexicans in the summer which I loved... It's a tough question. :)
@kinetickennons6 жыл бұрын
These are all great points! I think next time we go we will spend more time in Playa for sure!! We definitely noticed way more Europeans and Argentinians in Isla and Cancún! We loved that actually!

Guys, just a tip. I recommend next time you land in DF pick a window seat that's on the left side of the plane and not above the wing. The view you get of the city as you land is stunning and unmatched, guaranteed. Great video as always!

That's an awesome tip! We will try that next time!! Is it a view of Don Goyo and Izta?
@jornar106 жыл бұрын
Kinetic Kennons depends of where you are coming from. But yes, generally if you come from the south or south east you get an awesome view of Don Goyo and Itza on top of the city view. If you come from the U.S. just the city but either way it's awesome. Also depends on how clear the day is but that's beyond your control. Glad you liked it 😊

The white sand in Cancun reflects back the sun that is why it doesn't get hot. You missed to mention that Cancun and the Caribbean have a hurricane season that usually starts in September and things can get a "little" messy.

yep...is hard to decide which one is best...I don't know Vallarta but I know Acapulco, and Acapulco has more of that Mexican feeling and decor where Cancun is more modern and more expensive too but its beaches are just incomparable I think...so for me Cancun is the winner even when Yucatan has beautiful beaches as well...that is why I will go live in my hometown of Merida and will have everything that I like close to me....thanks for your video and opinions, I'm sure it will help a lot of other people decide where they want to go...and we haven't talked about the food yet!! that is another hard decision!!!

Are you starting a war? Haha, good points. Don't like to .make comparisons, I think every beach destination has pros and cons and at the end of the day, they are all part of Mexico and I've been in both and I like them, but PV gets hotter and more humid than Cancun, but I I could choose in between I would definitely choose Cancun, even over Cabo San Lucas. Cancun is situated in a great location and well connected to nearby cities and with the rest of the world. Beautiful beaches and better weather. It can get chili in the winter sometimes! But like you said, its a matter of what you're looking for and your tastes. There is nothing wrong with the other two, just Cancun meets my needs. Acapulco Bay and Acapulco Diamante are beautiful too.

Im very much partial to playa del carmen. Cancun reminds me of every other mexican city but with except a beautiful beach. Vallarta is very low key and has that small town, colonial charm feel to it. Playa del carmen has it all and places like cozumel, puerto aventuras, xcaret, tulum and coba are just a short boat/drive away. We stayed in the playacar area last spring and absolutely loved it. It was extremely painful to leave it for socal.. :( I can imagine how it feels for those from the northwest, northeast, and midwest US lol

Just ran into a Fox News vid on KZbin stating Cancun has become a murder capital. I don’t get the right’s obsession with scaring Americans about Mexico and spreading misinformation. We could be such a powerful and socially friendly block (Mexico-US-Canada) if people in the US knew what you two know and what you have experienced. But, I am glad you guys took a chance to venture south and little by little (one cool video at a time), do a fabulous job of setting the record straight. In Vallarta, you have the coastal mountains, the jungle and the Bandaras Bay which protects the beaches from the big waves and I'm thinking the Pacific is cooler. The Qroo area should be hotter and more humid. PV gets hot and humid some days, but most days there's cloud cover and it's okay due to rain and clouds most of the time. The mountains add character to the landscape along the Pacific coast.

Next time, promise you are going to Playa del Carmen :P its really the best place to stay in the riviera Maya, a mix of modern but small beach town, with LOTS to do near the area (its like a Sayulita but bigger and more modern). And from there you need to visit Koba ruins (in the middle of the jungle) and then going to Maroma beach (some say the best beach in Mexico). And DEFINITELY go to Holbox! its beautiful!
@RodrigoRosseeuw6 жыл бұрын
its better to rent a car actually, when staying in Playa, to go to Koba, Ek-Balam, the Cenotes, Bacalar, etc. But its definitely closer to all those places than Cancun. Difference on the sand and water has do to with the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Pacific Ocean water going to darker color and you find lots of black sand due to volcanic lava. While the Atlantic Ocean waters are light blueish and water is very calm. Sand mostly is light or white.

Personally I don't like neither of them, and I'm from a town about 40 miles from Puerto Vallarta, and have vacationed in Cancún. South of Puerto Vallarta lies and amazi g coast, with beautiful islands and beaches, small secluded coves, and vibrating reefs. Cancún is the same, if you go up and down the riviera Maya, you'll find amazing beaches and towns. If I were to choose where to stay, I'd say Vallarta, and just travel south from there. Although lodging is even cheaper down south than in PV

Hello how are you, good video of your comparison of Vallarta and Cancun, Vallarta is a beautiful city between modernity and history, and Cancun is a beautiful city and especially its turquoise blue beaches the whole city surrounded by the sea and lakes, is As if it were the city Miami surrounded by water., Vallarta has a history of how it began its history of how it was famous by Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Vallarta has too much nature as you have seen a lot of mountain jungle and more vallarta beaches are very nice too, not all the beaches of vallarta have small stones, there are more that only have sand and the beach of a blue and green crystalline color with white waves, like the beaches., punta negra, colomitos, las twins, white heron, stakes, Chinese shells, same and more beaches that are nice, also vallarta takes fast development Vallarta there are several buildings in the city, which means that vallarta every time is better. now there is a problem in Cancun its beaches are already dirty because of the sargassum there is too much on its beaches that still do not know how to solve this problem well since there are enough on its beaches that tourists do not like it as the color of the beach is putting blue coffee, by the sargasso and the sand full of sargasso,. meanwhile in vallarta the problem in the beaches where there is a river that flows into the sea that does, that shows bad water but that happens only in the rainy season. good total good video friends greetings.

Just my two cents.. Puerto Vallarta got very bad roads. To many Cobble Stones and Speed Bumps every few feet. I would say our foods were better in Cancun. No so much small Chopped up food. We even got Rosted Ducks, beef roasts and many variety of fishes. PV Resorts are more of a "Bowl Foods type". I like the services in all 4 star hotels. The Militia with machine guns mounted on jeeps is very scary in PV. The shopping district "Buceria - PV" is very dusty from the muddy roads. If You buy any souvenir is dirty already. Cancun maybe a better shopping choice. It's cleaner and has better highways and roads. But I love both places to visit..

Most Quintana Roo-born people are not older than 40 years old now. Most of the people you saw around Cancún were probably from some other state. Building a sense of belonging, community and pride for the people living in Quintana Roo has been an issue for the state government.

Beaches are nicer in Cancun, but that's the only thing that's better. PV has an awesome food scene, a beautiful, traditional Mexican town at it's center, great isolated beaches a boat ride away, and jungle covered mountains at the edge of the ocean. Cancun is mostly all inclusive megaresorts that don't even feel like they are in Mexico.
