(Même pour une non-croyante) cela fait beaucoup de bien à écouter. Merci à vous deux.

Thank you for sharing this! Can you explain why "petii" is pronounced with a hard T and not like "petsii"? Doesn't "ti" + vowel normally turn into "tsi", like in "gratia" or "negligentiis"?

Hello, thank you for your kind message. In France, we’ve been pronouncing Latin « à l’italienne » since the beginning of the 20th century, because of the reforms of pope Pius X ; beforehand, it was pronounced « à la française », and if you go to other countries nowadays, you can hear other prononciations. So I just want to say firsthand that there are no universal rules for Latin. However, in this Italian pronunciation, we only respect the Italian rules : therefore “gratia” does indeed sound “gratsia”, because of “-tia”, and you have the same sound on “-tio”, but it is different with “-ti” and even “-tii” : both “petii” and “negligentiis” have a hard T. If you want, you may check on Google Translate, the speaking function. Thank you, see you!

Vocês cantam na missa? Que momento é este que vocês estão cantando?
@ecolegregorienne30622 жыл бұрын
Yes, we sing at mass. This is the moment of the psalm, just after the first epistle. The antiphon is sung by the schola, and the verse by a soloist.

@@ecolegregorienne3062 eu achei que não era uma missa. É bem diferente para mim os cantores na frente do altar! Mas vi outros vídeos com a missa completa e vi que é costume de vocês! Muito lindo! Parabéns.

Well, it is not only a custom of ours! The verse of the gradual is traditionally sung on the steps (Latin : gradus) of the altar or the ambon :) thanks for your kind words.
