I thought the penguin group photo was wonderful and didn't need to be perfectly focused throughout - in fact, it makes it more real not to be I think. It gives your eye a variety of dimension to look at, if that makes sense. This is a one of those omg memory photos, not one that needs to be in sharp detail of every penguin or object in the picture. You are really living the dream!!

Fantastic. Absolutely jealous of that leopard seal ha, our zodiac missed it! Love the footage from Cuverville, it's like an army of penguins making their way across the Island.

True!! This was a big point of conversation onboard and for the team. Seems like the ship itself has the biggest impact through burning all the fuel. With that said, these 'cruise' ships are highly regulated and controlled by the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators. Check out IAATO for much more detailed information iaato.org/ on this exact topic.

Thanks for these Greg - I’m looking forward to the rest of the series as it’s been a great way for me to show my family and friends about our trip - as it’s hard to describe just using my photographs and your videos have brought the whole fantastic experience back to life again. Now they have a better understanding ….. as your documentation of the whole experience is so well put together. Regards, Trev.

The penguins walking through the blue ice were great. Looks like a lot of fun. I wonder if penguins porpoise or if porpoises penguin? On the filling the frame images, I wonder if multiple images of the rookery dragging the shutter and focus stacked could be a way of having a time-lapse in one pic?

Fabulous video Greg, footage and images were on point once again. What were the rules regarding drones as I see you were using footage from someone else (crew member?). I assume you weren’t permitted to fly your own drone
@gregorsnell
@gregorsnell Жыл бұрын
Cheers Jim! Yeah the drone regulations are very strict. Usually only one person is allowed to fly and they have to be approved via IAATO, the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators. Polar Latitudes does this at the start of the year for one of their crew. Usually the photographer on board if they are also a certified drone pilot. In this case Lisa is and was ours for the trip. I would LOVE to be able to fly though and next time we go down there I plan to try and get the permit to do so. I'll just need to be a year in advance at least.
