I still love Gregory and his music as well as all Roots music past and present. I've had the pleasure of seeing all the major acts performing live in Philly in the 70's and 80's including Bob Marley twice and Gregory "twice". Once when he and Dennis Brown had top billing along with several others all backed by Sly and Robbie, I told my friends to go in and get seats while I parked my car. When I joined them inside they told me I missed Gregory as he opened the show with a quick set and left. I brushed off the disappointment and loved the rest of the show as Sly and Robbie and their band played non stop for hours backing up the other acts. Night Nurse gave Gregory more international recognition but some favorites of mine would be "Private Secretary" and "Let Off Supm" and "Live to Love". The Cool Ruler thankfully lives on in his vinyl and his spirit.
