"It's funny, it all came together (on Timberline)..." Words that are so true, in the quiet pursuit of the art he has chosen for decades. My inspiration.

I've been looking at Greg's work since the 1980's Illustration annuals. Bought this book as soon as it came out. Also had Greg as an instructor at The Illustration Master Class. He's the best!

He is so lucid when talks about art. Despite the period in which he begin, with the enormous tension that modern art brought to the world he worked this way of the illustrator. And not as someone who denies reality but someone who embraces it !

Really like the work, but have to disagree a little about "forget the talent it's not going to help you"..I went to an illustrators school probably the same time as he did and I learned that in some respect you don't need talent to be an illustrator/artist. But it helps, and it helps in this way. You don't struggle as much as the others. Ideas and technic come easier and faster and takes you further down the road to being a stronger artist. So, does it matter? Yes, but only if you stay at it and never stop building on it and let it out.

Question is are you a working illustrator? Meaning do support yourself just on illustration like Greg? Are you on par with Greg's level of skill? If the answer is no , then I guess he was right, wasn't he?

I knew of a couple of people who had obvious natural talent but had no drive to develope it. Then their are some. who don't seem to have as. much talent but work to develope what they have and become successful.
