No matter how many times I have listened to this masterpiece, I end up in tears...
@crystalj97258 жыл бұрын
The first time I heard this song I sat there motionless. I turned the volume up and played it again. I cried so hard and loud that I had to play it again. To this day I still can't listen without my heart strings pulling. I love Gregory's voice on ALL his songs but this one with Chip solely providing the music. So strong.

Such a versatile album, whether chilling with friends with a few drinks or when you just need a moment to yourself. Currently stamds at No.2 in albums that make me cry

I was listening to Jazz on KZbin at work. Then KZbin decided to suggest WolfCry. It got into my feels I stopped working immediately, cancelled my Friday night plans, went home and went on a Gregory Porter binge listening. This song made me go back to learning piano. I had to learn how to play this tune.

Where are these kinds of men to be found in these times???? The fact that he wrote such tender sentiments is a testimony to his lovely heart. I thank God that there’s at least one such man still on this earth.❤️
@poetrlsmith7 жыл бұрын
I watched an interview he did at a BBC event in which he said that many of his songs are secretly prayers, and reflections of his faith. "Wolfcry" could certainly be one of those secret prayers. How many of us have wanted God near to save us "and gather all the pieces of your heart". It's hard to "leave your innocence and vulnerability" behind, but Gregory makes the case for doing so quite beautifully. I could so easily hear my church's choir singing this song on a bright Sunday morning.

Thanks for the info Randolph, I hear it too! A full gospel arrangement of this song would be so good for the soul!

Thanks Phil.

it is a pretty melody, but far from a prayer. he thinks he is saving someone who needs him. yet they dont actually need him at all! still one of my favorites of his.
@Ronald602025 жыл бұрын
This one works in a secular way as well...the love between people, the love of each other, how we do our best to steady ourselves and each other in times of crises, how we just want to BE loved. This one is now in my permanent repertoire. Gorgeous. Absolutely breathtaking.

It certainly is +twilightjoi. Gregory nails it with only a piano accompaniment. I can imagine sweet orchestral themes but why spoil the purity?

On this and other songs around KZbin, I have to wonder; who are these people (at this moment 36 of them) that don't like this song, AND, why the need to say it with a "thumbs down" click, just move on.
@christopher18003 жыл бұрын
That's not entirely fair though. I often read comments like yours.. but we simply all have different tastes in music. So yes, some people dislike this song and they wish to make it known. Just as some (lots of) people like this song and wish to make it known. That's how the world works. To each his own. By the way, I think this song is stunning.
