Does anyone know the length of the metal frame within the back pack in the Large (as appose to the packed length)? I am trying to determine whether i can pack this into an overhead.

I just got given a Gregory pack. The Baltoro 75. It's a bit to weighty for me - this one would be ideal for an overnight bivvy. Nice sack with some cool features as you mention. All the best. Mark

I was impressed with how comfortable it was to wear. Gregory describe them as lightweight but I have found them to be pretty average weight for their sizes. They are nice packs though and I am surprised that they are not more popular in this country. Great weather for walks at the moment Eh? I am planning to do the second half of the Cotswold Way next week, so hope this weather lasts. ATB Clive

Hi Clive. Great review - thanks. You do not specifically say whether the Zulu 40 is comfortable on long hikes, but I assume it is by your positive comments. I am doing the Camino from Le Puy-en-Velay in France to Santiago de Compostela next year, and my short list of packs is down to this Gregory and the Deuter Futura Pro 40 ... any suggestions for why one would be favourable over the other? I have a Deuter 65, and find it very comfortable, but would like to try a Gegory as it is a few hundred grams lighter and looks well laid out. However, they (Gregory packs) are not easy to find in shops in Western Australia, so it would probably have to be an untested on-line order. I would appreciate any advice before taking the plunge one way or the other. Thanks.

Great review. Thanks. I see there are elastic (?) bands right below and next to the fabric that continues all the way to the top (shoulder straps) on each harness. On the model I checked out here the other day there was only one elastic band located on the right harness. On the harness (left one?) designated for sunglasses I couldn't find the same band. Seemed like there was only one, on the right harness. Considering this backpack, but as I tend to carry with me a camera bag, I'd like the ability to attach it right across my chest, on each harness with a pair of carabiners. A bit unsure if this is possible. I clearly see that your Zulu 40 has elastic bands on each harness below the fabric connected up to the shoulder straps. The Zulu 40 I checked out only had this band on one side. Hm.

Hi Gregory Packs updated their packs this year, it is possible that the one you checked out was an old model. Our current stock of the Zulu 40 is as follows. We have one green small/med Zulu 40 this has only one elastic band on the R/H strap. We have two green and one black Med/large Zulu 40 that have the elastic bands on both straps .
