I know I ignored the pricing aspect of this review. It wasn't deliberate, but it speaks to my underlying thoughts: the price of this case is "meh." I don't think it's outrageously expensive considering what you're getting, but it isn't a "bargain" by any definition of the word. Obviously, you wouldn't wanna use this case in a build with a strict budget. What do you think?
@Gradymeister

The RGB on the front of the case looks so meh to me. Everything else looks fine, but for 200 dollars? Maybe 150..

GrumpyFelo When you use this case as it was intended to be used (500-1000$ custom watercooling loops and obviously fairly expensive hardware like 1080Ti ... etc) then 200$ for a case with this kind of exterior build quality and the almost perfectly designed interior is actually very cheap. If you're planning on getting a 1060 and a budget build overall then don't buy this case. It was not meant for you. Get your head out of your ass. I was actually amazed this was just 200$ ... I was expecting 250-300$ when I saw this case presented for the first time. You wouldn't complain about a ferrari or lamborghini being too expensive, would you now ? And this is nowhere near that same price difference between a normal affordable car and a ferrari ...

Awesome video man. I've been very concerned about GPU temperatures with this case based on a few other reviews on it. Your video on this case best represents how I especially would want to use this case. Thanks for adding fans and using an AIO in your review. I think that is also very much more representative of how others would use it as well. I feel a lot more confident about this case in terms of performance now. Thanks again Greg, great video man.

Just finished my build in this beast. It is a dream. Coming from a 570x mirror black I can say this is the best case ever. Tons of room. Really is a breeze to build in. Rgb lights are nice and subtle. I saw this at that show you went to (computex?), and was floored. With all fan spaces populated (360mm aio in front and 120mm fans elsewhere) it really is as cool as the 570x if not better. Only thing I can say bad is the noise compared to the 570x. At 100% fan speed I can hear them more than what could in the 570x. Mabey cause the glass is more sound dampening at the top? Really a top notch case though.
@pureblackfire511
@pureblackfire511 6 жыл бұрын
the more spaced out front panel on the Evolv X makes the front fans more audible outside the case unfortunately. imo Phanteks should lower the price and just include one rear and one top exhaust fan. I think out of box temps would be better and noise would be lower. the front fans are too far away from the gpu they may as well not include them.
@joeywilliams604
@joeywilliams604 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, the price is not too friendly. I don't really hear it unless I run 100% fan speed. My gpu stays awesomely cool though. I just got done playing the New tomb raider for about 1 1/2 hours and my GPU didn't get above 62C with a 40% fan curve on a gaming X trio. Can't hear the system over the game volume at all. Take what I say with a grain of salt though. I'm new to the PC scene and just amazed.

I have a small video up showing the setup, not a shameless plug or anything. Just so you can see, but I'm not experiencing high temps at all. Mabey I'm doing something different. Unsure. I have the 570x with a 1080Ti and Gpu is at 55 degrees only. When I game I crank the fans to 60 percent with 1440p settings and goes up to the high 60 degrees. 570x is a good case but the cable management is a nightmare. Good case I like it a lot. I do see people complaining about the Evolve X though but I would like to see a water loop review. You still need fresh air coming in to cool the radiators, so I dont know.

Why would you not just get a secondary little SFX size PSU, put it in the bottom under the main PSU-shroud "basement" section, in place of one of the removable HDD bays. Only limitation, is you need a main motherboard power cable way longer than normal for an M-ITX build.

I actually bought this case, my only complain is their cable management on the fan hub and front fans. The power cable to power the fan hub was so well hidden behind all the stock cables that i took me around 30 minutes to figure it out I was powering the wrong one and that was the reason that fans were not working. A bit of panic mode was not helping tbh. Beside that I keep a stable 60° on heavy load on cpu and a 70ish on the 1080ti, the build is quiet enough and overall good looking, cable management was easy, there is plenty of room to keep it clean, the rgbs are addressable by the mobo so the shiny lights that keeps gamers happy are on point. Filters works well (I have a cat that likes to sit on top of pc and in front of it, in 3 days the amount of hair was actually massive). I would recommend it based on a 15days test BUT is also the first high end case that I build in, so no real point of comparison. It sure is a lot better than a 70-80€ case.

May I ask which Bracket you ordered from Cooler Master for the GPU to sit closer to the MotherBoard? I have a Huge Asus Rog Strix 2080 ti OC with Triple Fans and wouldn't want to choke it and have it to close to the glass door. Nice review, Decided on this one after my Cooler Master Cosmos C700M Came with a broken Curved Tempered Glass Door :o/ Then I saw the Corsair 500D So I ordered that one Since it had two Tempered Glass Swing out doors which is what I wanted. Then I saw the Evolv X and Realized that was a better option since i wanted to install at least 4 10TB HDD Drives and Realized this was a better case then the Corsair 500D. So I canceled the order on the Corsair 500D on Amazon "Within an hour" Wooossshhhh, Thank god I canceled it on time ;o) Now I waiting for this beautiful Evolv X case as it has everything I wanted. RGB was an Extra Feature from the Corsair Model which had none. the RGB is a much more Sleek and Mature RGB then most out there, that have these huge RGB 200mm Fans Glowing Rainbow colors on the front of the case, which is why I wasn't attracted to so many RGB Cases that look like they were made more for happy toddlers. Coming for a Cosmos 1000 "Angelic aka Fallen Angel" Case to this, is perfect as I am sure it won't be as big as the Cosmos 1000 just a tad smaller, but with all the space and features I wanted and a few Extras like an addition Build of a Micro Board for just for $240 cheaper then the $440 Cosmos C700M I think I saved myself a pretty penny. Thanks again for such a great review.

The 2 front fans are actually not good for the case at all, they are airflow fans, that's why the mesh/panel combo drowns them. I saw similar CPU/GPU drops to your mesh off test by replacing with Chromax NFA-14's that handle SP better.

couple of things to mention about this case, 1) the (painted in) motherboard stand offs take the smaller screws (that there is most of in the box) where all my other cases take the bigger ones similar to the power supply mounting screws and 2) getting back to the painted in motherboard standoffs, make sure you have a correct fitting spanner or sockets, as so much as touch the crappy paint job on the motherboard tray with a pair of needle nose plyers and you will reveal the nice shiny metal underneath, fine if you plan to put a full atx board in but not so great if you (like me) have an m-atx board, just glad i plan to upgrade it to full atx one asap.

I bought two (one silver, one anthracite) for two new builds I'm about to undertake, and my only critique would be that the Phanteks Vertical GPU Kit, which I also purchased to allow me to move the card away from the window, isn't as compatible as one might think...I may have to cut out the existing rear PCI-e bracket slots to fit it...I have yet to receive it, but am almost certain this is what I will have to do, unless the GPU sits at a comfortable position away from the glass side panel (which I doubt it will). The case does NOT come with the riser cable, only the mounting base so I purchased the kit to allow me to have a few options, e.g. using the already installed vertical slots, using the new bracket, or horizontal mounting...I have yet to decide.

I have that many as when I ran low on space for my games I brought a new one (this is over many years as well). I can't afford to buy a massive drive hence why I have multiple small ones. Not to mention the drives work fine, I don't want to get rid of one just because it has run out of space.

I'm hoping phanteks will sell extra / replacement front panels. I fully intend to put one on my miller at work to do some nice hole grids for even better airflow

Just wondering what's the cooler master riser kit you used to position the GPU closer to the motherboard. thank you.

My view is its a well built, highly functional work of art, I just built in to the grey one, still need to get RGB fans

Nice. I think we have a winner. That minimal temp difference with the front panel on/off, allays the only remaining worry I had about this one. And everything else seems first-rate. The only "complaint" I've yet even heard from anyone else, is the subjective notion that those back hinged cable-management SSD-tray-door things, seem "gimmicky" or cheap. Well... they perform the function as advertised... And if you don't like them, I guess you could just take them out? I honestly don't really understand how there's a down-side. The only real idea for "improvement" I can come up with, is purely a cosmetic embellishment: Maybe if I got ambitious and fabbed an additional piece of aluminum (or Stainless? Hmm...) to go inside as a full height standoff cover-plate, to go over the top of where those internal sliding plastic cable-cover things are.

Why don't case designers make the rear slot mounts rotatable so a GFX card can be mounted 'normally' or as you have vertically. It must be possible to do...

What would you guys recommend for fan placement? I was thinking of keeping the 1200RPM (I think) stock fans in place (2x front, 1x back) and just adding a couple of 800RPM at the top for additional exhaust. That provides a slightly negative pressure case for maximum cooling. Recommended?

Evolv X or PC o11? I want vertical GPU and will be using cooler master's bracket. Gonna be using 360mm rad.

The only bad thing I find with this case, is that it only has 2 usb ports in the front IO (plus the usbc) making it impossible to have both systems connected to the front IO. I am thinking the use would be for limited desk space, and both you akd your partner/room mate share the chassi and both want to hook up their controllers and play e.g. rocket league together. Or something similar.

Does it come with 3x 120 fans or 3x 140 fans? Im waiting on my case to show up and I was sure it was 120 front fans. Glad I didn't buy extra fans yet.. 🤔

Does it come with any panels to cover the holes in the back for the ITX MB and above the riser slots? You would have to make sure your case has lots of positive pressure to avoid dust being pulled in there, especially if you have fans mounted in the roof.

I don't feel so bad about my workspace now 😅 Great case- I would like to see something similar to a Thermaltake View case but with cable channels like the NZXT cases to SHOW your cable management handiwork along with exposed PSU for nice full modular units with custom cabling. It's a shame hiding these cables when you go to all the effort.

iLike how you used all silver components. iWas thinking of doing the same thing, but with a EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 and a ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E motherboard. Since the power supply shroud has no ventilation on the top of it, is it removable? I'm thinking about using a Thermaltake 360 rad with the NZXT Kraken G12 bracket for the GPU, but I'm not sure how the air flow would be considering the bottom intake fan would be under the power supply shroud.

Will this case fit a 154mm wide gpu waterblock without clearance issues with the window. Had to send my 011 dynamic back cause gpu was too wide duh! Should have checked specs.

I'm looking towards buying a new case and two options are EvolveX and the PC-011 from Lian Li, but I'm more Interested of the PC-011 because like the side of the case like the right of the motherboard, you can mount fans or a 360 rad.

Temperature comparison of the built in vertical GPU mount VS the cooler master mount?? I use the built in mount of the fractal R6 and have never had a temperature issue. I would be curious to see the difference. Thanks Greg!!

why are people complaining about airflow? tons of space and luckily, you can put 140mm rear fan. not many cases over this.

Im actually looking for a mid size case with good flow. Something not too flashy. This case is one im looking at. Id like to stay with a white case and something that can hold a 360mm rad/fans. Any other suggestions?

Any chance you could review a decent quality case that still has one or two 3.5 bays? I know it's not super cool any more, but I still have a bd drive and DVD-RW that I use a hell of a lot, and will be looking for a new case soon for a TR4 build I am saving for.

How did you install the cooler master gpu vertical mount? Did you have to cut the metal on the case to install it ?

This case doesn't look bad, but the lack of open airflow for fans kills it completely for me. Top has just that tiny bit of mesh to vent through, which in my opinion isn't near enough.
