The Phanteks Evolv X dual system build is finally here but fitting two systems inside one pretty compact case led to some serious issues. This one really didn't go as we had planned. :(

The dual system thing is really intended for custom loops, thus you’d be able to use whatever fittings needed to fit things together nicely. But the itx system is more for like a mini server or capture/streaming system, not 2 high power systems with no open loop

Dmitry, this is the best production you've done so far. Especially between 3:19 and 3:26. You don't have to keep doing builds in that type of lighting as I know it'll put strain on your eyes, but that was the best 7-s sequence as far as the lighting/mood and music composition. Some recommendations for a dual-system build: 1 - Get a USB switch, so you can have one set of peripherals and simply use the switch to use system 1 or system 2. 2 - Use one system as a local storage system (GGF events used a raid-card to use 9 ssds in this case!) 3 - Render some videos on one system, and edit some videos on the other (this can save a lot of time) 4 - If you have problems with coolers, take advantage of the fill/drain port on the front of the case and build a custom loop (you won't have to worry about forced colors then)

It's so interesting to see something like that. I think you could fix the thermals for the ITX system with a 140mm AIO to put in the top beside the motherboard. But it would need low profile RAM to avoid tubing smashing on the NH-D15. Also, if you're not using any other expansion slot on your motherboard you could maybe try to put the second GPU horizontally where there are no PCIE slots on the ATX motherboard. Another possibility is to get an mATX motherboard to be able to fit the second GPU horizontally and being able to close the panel. Surely asks for some creative solution if you don't want to go full custom watercooling. Video really well produced, ultra details, ray tracing ON!

Great ideas 👍 I'll definitely switch out the tiny cooler on the ITX board, but sticking with ATX for the main system but mATX would have been perfect. -D.

I houses 2 systems, one being a nas on the ITX side. 11 12mm fans, 1 8mm fan, 7 hds. It is a beast of a case. Saving now for the quadstellar, wich I plan to mod to house 2 itx systems, the nas and the main rig.

You can mount a 120 AIO in the rear.. Use one that is 50mm thick. Which is the same volume as dual 120 AIO... I ended up using a H-80i v2. Stuck one fan outside the rear of the case. As it allows me to seal the AIO tank up against the case. Help give me more room inside the case. Got 4 degree c. better cooling over that Noctus heat sink...And yes most cases today have cut outs in the rear. To route the fan cable back inside the case for external pumps and hoses...

So I guess you'll have to use a dual-screen, one for system A and another for system B, link both with an RJ-45 crossed cable and use Synergy Project to control both like a simple dual-screen computer. You could then use one for rendering and the other for doing other work. I don't know if you can also make Premiere leverage the resources of a computer on the LAN like Sony Vegas does, you could then have the efficiency of both computers for rendering. PS: Synergy Project is a paid software, but as it was opensource, you can check on sourceforge or other alternatives to try the old version and see if it fits your needs.

My riser cable arrives next week! Then its finally time to build my dual system as well :D However, i think you made a couple of mistakes with your dual system. After explaining them i will write my solutions and how to control the tempatures in the case. So first big no-no is the fact you are using a triple fan GPU and not blowerstyle. The case itself will have 2 GPUs and 2 CPUs + mobo heat in the very back of the case and the ITX board will block off any fans to help out in the top. So basically, you have 1 fan to get all that hot air out. The blowerstyle card will create an immense amount of heat inside the case that you can not get rid of. Secondly you are going aircooling giving huge clearance issues with cooling, both for the ATX and ITX board. So add the hot air accumulating from the blowerstyle, the ITX using the hot air from the ATX cooler and you have a huge bubble of hot air circulating creating terrible temps. Last thing is that your Titan is literally up against the glass and can not breath. You will end up choking that card. Here is my approach to the double system build (However, not tested yet): Im going with 2x Blowerstyle GPUs to ensure decent temps, but without interfering with the CPUs and motherboards. Now, there are issues with having a vertical card because of the wire sticking out and forcing the vertical card out towards the glass. My solution was to instal the Coolermaster Vertical Mount in the case. So both my cards are vertically mounted and this allows the card towards the class to be moved further into the case and giving it a proper air volume to work with. Then for the 2x CPUs im using a 120mm Rad for the ITX build in the back and a 360mm Rad for the main ATX system in the front. In a perfect world i would have a 420mm rad on the front and 140mm in the back, but dont have the money for that right now. If you didnt know, the top of the Evolv X does NOT support ITX + 240mm Rad.. its literally missing 5mm :( Anyways, this give PLENTY of clearance compared to your aircooling setup and you can even remove the ITX build without having to take the ATX build out. This also helps out with not having the hot air pocket curculating in the top. Biggest negative about this setup is the 360 rad pumps out about 50 degrees under load, making it though for the GPUs. Im placing 1 140mm intake fan in the top of the case towards to front to help out with getting some fresh intake. I will then place the plastic .. erh, surface thing? on the top between the ITX and fan to close off the hole and giving proper air routing. Ive tested it out a bit with what i can, both GPUs are running at 60-65 degrees under load and my ATX CPU is 50-55 and and ITX runs at 55-60 with the panel CLOSED. However, i havent had EVERYTHING running at the exact same time. So it might go up slightly .. but overall good temps for 2 systems in the same case :) Hope this helps you Dimitry .. i dont think you are letting this case show you its full potentiel with air cooling =/

I also have a very similar build out. I'm not using the EvolvX, but rather a Enthoo Mini XL Dual System. My primary system (mATX) is my gaming PC, while my ITX system is a dedicated Plex/Streaming PC. I use NDI to send the gameplay from my primary machine to my ITX build and use CPU encoding. If that's not your thing, you could also utilize the ITX to do a FreeNAS. I'm also really interested in that Revolt X to replace my PSU & Phanteks Power Splitter that I'm using in my case.

You could always go full custom water cooling loops for both systems and that should work out better in such a small case. Frankly if I were building a dual system I would go with a larger case. If you want to stick with phanteks you can go with the phanteks enthoo elite but that's super expensive. You could also go with the corsair 1000D but that vase is so huge I'm not sure where you'd put it.

You can do the same things as with two towers/one tower, one laptop - I'm doing a dual screen config with Synergy (kinda a software KVM), one system for gaming, second system for looking things up/YT/seeing a stream; both at the same time for productivity. Or as secondary compute system (video editing), or second PC a silent PC for Spotify, TV, file server, etc. The good thing about two PCs instead of dual-monitoring one system is that the CPU/GPU/RAM usage are independant of each other, so you minimize framerate problems when you do background tasks (on 8-core 64 GB RAM systems, that is of course not an issue anymore) You can plug in a second set of peripherals (use a Y-cable or small sound mixer to unify the sound) so that you can use both systems simultaniously. This set-up of two PCs (and many more than two monitors, LOL) is relatively common for simulation gamers, for looking up reference materials such as charts or to change TS/Discord without going out of your game. Also, you won't need heating anymore.

A good use case would be to use the mitx system as a dedicated gaming pc and the atx system as a streaming/editing pc. Through an Elgato 4k60 Pro or an Avermedia Live Gamer 4k in the atx system, loop through the gaming feed or clone it and be on your way. If you had a bunch of drives in there the mitx could be a freenas like what Paul's Hardware is doing.

My plans for my upcoming Evolv 2-system build is to put both a gaming PC and my PLEX server/NAS in the same build. For the ITX/Media Server I plan on using an AMD 2400G and it's onboard graphics. I plan to use two AIO's to help with the interior temperatures (I find the Corsair H55 Quiet is a really great fit for these types of use cases and pretty cost effective). This should help produce a lower power requirement, create better airflow in the case and allow for more space for large format HDs to store content ... since there will only be one dedicated GPU in the setup. This setup will save me substantial space compared to my current discrete systems.

I recon it looks great, and I much prefer big air coolers to AIOs - avoids noise and leaks, plus the performance of that big Noctua is as good if not better than many AIOs you can get whilst also being quieter. The only change I would make would be to flat out disable the green RGB's on the Titan. This is a really awesome build, and you have inspired me to look into the case. I currently rock two separate systems, with my main rig being an 8600k and 1070 and then I have a mini ITX running Ubuntu for a few bits of Linux software I need now and then.

@@motivated_capybara First of all, no, the D15 does not outperform good AiO's, it might be quiter, but that's because of the Noctua fans. Secondly, that's not the point. There are clearing issues. I like that you threw all these insanely powerful parts together :D To be quite frank, though, I don't really see the value of equipping both of these systems with high-end graphics cards, especially since I cannot see a world, where this configuration stays cool. Sure, you can leave the sidepanel off (and I know, you liked doing that in the past), but there are drawbacks to that approach, too, such as building up dust and louder operation. Personally, I might ditch the weaker GPU because of this. Then again, it's unlikely I would pair two systems like that within one case, but instead go for a more power-efficient ITX system for general use with the ATX case coming in for gaming and other high-load stuff. Anyway, I am looking forward to the next video regarding this. Can't really see a way to efficiently use these systems with only one monitor, though.

I sure hope you still read the comments here, as I'll be building the same thing. :) Could you tell me what the clearance for the mini-itx system cooler would be? I'll probably be going for some Noctua fan to cool the ATX CPU, and since i have an older i5-6600k (which I'll install in the ITX), I was thinking to leave the stock fan that came with it to cool it since it did an ok job before. What do you think, would that work?

weaponize the top board (pfsense, kabana, and gaming... nice combo. With the increasing core counts applications like this becomes more deployable, reduce costs compared to what is needed now for cyber reactive measures and lastly footprint. Of course gaming while engaging cyber countermeasures is always a plus.

i would use 2 aio with on both sides a cooler, saves space and dont heat the inside up to much cause u get a better airflow, in my pc i got 2 240 rads one in the front and 2 at the top with 4 coolers each, its very quiet

Hey Dimitry. Would it be possible to move that ITX-System forward along this rail at the top to the space right above the place for watercooling-reservoirs or additional harddrives? This is unused empty space anyway as far as I could see. Of course you'd loose the direct access to the backpanel of the board, but the height clearance is no issue anymore and you could use a beefy cooler or any AIO you like. Looking at 4:45 this might work.

Maybe you could have added a small 120ml AIO for the itx system, and a 360 AIO for the atx, have the 120 aio intake at the top front roof of the case, and have the 360 aio intake through the front panel, neither would spoil the other in terms of temps, as they are both takijg fresh air, but im not sure about clearance at the front top for a small rad and fans, especially if there is already a 360 rad/fans at the front, idk, food for thought, might be a solution to the temp issue

Almost (but not quite) think it might be easier to go with a Threatripper 2990EX or Intel 9980XE then virtualize the machine with PCIe passthrough. But neat idea for sure, def interested in hearing about the thermals and hope it doesn't trip up your workflo.

Could you mount a 120mm AIO on the to of the case for the ITX component? Use the ITX system as a HD storage manager and/or streaming PC?

I'm contemplating a very similar build. The itx system serving as Linux based NAS, Home Automation and media server based on a TDP limited 2400g cpu. The other system would be a Threadripper 2 workstation for software development and image processing.

I'm considering this for my next case. I work from a home office and I think it would be nice to not have two PCs under the desk or a PC and laptop. The ATX would be my gaming rig and the ITX would be a work PC that doesn't need real horse power so I could go Ryzen with 2200G. Already have a watercooled CPU/GPU in the current gaming rig. Any thoughts?

What about a custom loop with a 120 and 360 rad cooling both CPUs? It looks like a 120 would fit in the top, would that even be possible? I’m half considering going that route for my next build so I would be good to know.

You could have a high end Intel and ryzen cpu system in each system and have it be one big gpu test bed. Therefore only having to swap gpus. Temperature may be an issue however but just an idea

Here's what I'm having issue with. The RGB on the Evolv X case, when I plug the D-RGB cable to the motherboard, the RGB of the case is sync'd with the motherboard, however, when I power down, it immediately powers itself back up. I would be curious if your's does that or how you hooked up the cables for the case to the motherboard.

Id like to see something along the lines of this, but 2 miniITX systems. 2 9600Ks? 6cores overclocked to 5ghz wouldnt bottleneck anything atm. 1 1080ti. Smaller case, silverstone has a 800w sfx psu. Youd be fine with a 128gb m.2 on the streaming pc. Main storage for the main pc and theres 2.5inch drives with high capacities. I wonder how smaller it would be while still having the gaming and streaming setup without performance loss.

one of the more common things to do with 2 systems in a single box is your big machine can be used for gaming or video production while the itx machine can handle video encoding or streaming.

Hi, why don't use a dual parallelized gpu system? Take a threadripper and a mobo for that CPU and put inside, both the GPU that you have (Titan XP + RTX 2080Ti). Connect both at the monitor and just it. You will have a dual parallelized system capable to reproduce games meanwhile you are rendering a video or what you want.

Would the Noctua cooler fit on the ITX board? and then water cool the ATX board. Having the same case, I've always wondered if a giant heat sink could fit suspended downwards. I'm personally using the stock fan for ITX (Ryzen 5 2600X) and AIO cooler for ATX (i7-6700K waiting a year to upgrade). Once I upgrade, then I'll mess around with a custom loop.
