Awesome video Greg! I will definitely have to check out more of Thundercat. I totally enjoyed your breakdown of this lick. Thanks for doing this.

Glad you liked it Kevin. It's a tough one to play at the correct speed, but good fun!

Thanks. It would be great if someone could upload the lick of the original version. I've seen covers and everyone playing it in a different way.

Personally I would say this is the closest that you can get to the original lick, playing it on a 5-string. When transcribing a lick of that speed and played by someone else, there are always going to be minor differences. That is just the nature of the beast! If you can hear any notes that you think are incorrect then perfect, you obviously have a great ear. If you transcribe it then let me know how you get on and what particular notes you think should be changed on my version.

@@GregsBassShed I think your version is totally on point! I meant in the original album version not the Tiny Desk one. There's this bass lick in min 1.42 and seeing covers on KZbin everyone seems to get it wrong somehow

@@miguelbass8882 ah I understand now. Unusually the point at which you are getting frustrated with KZbin videos, is the time to start transcribing yourself! It saves a lot of time in the long run if you develop this skill, and it is great for your playing.
