I personally ordered the iPad Air w/M2, 128gb cellular. Yes they dropped the price on the iPad. But for me, I’m taking into consideration that it’s an A14 chip, which will be great for awhile, but then when the device gets to a point to where it won’t take updates because of the outdated chip and storage, and then it will be only a matter of time before Apple puts it on the end-of-life list because they will make software updates for it, it just won’t be the same ones that every other updated iPad with an M-series chip gets. Still a worthy iPad to get for new 1st time iPad owners and for people who are on a budget or a startup business who don’t want the mini, (or business in general), even for schools, that this iPad is catered for. Bottom line is, whatever YOUR needs are for, as they say.. “There is an iPad for everyone”! Happy shopping everyone.👍🏼

I completely agree about “future proofing”. I’m using an iPAD PRO 9.7” MM192LL/A, 128 go. Besides being unable to upgrade the O/S, some apps that I use won’t even load. At a maximum it’s 8 years old. My thinking generally runs towards buying a device that has some built-in longevity. I could spend “on the cheap” with the lesser device, yet if I keep the new AIR for 8 years, like my current model, the incremental difference is $200 equipped w/256 and with WiFi + Cellular. I’ll spend the extra $200 which over 8 years is $25 per year additional or $2 a month.

My work entails a lot of note-taking, creating presentations, brainstorming, and writing. 2. I don’t find a use case to use Stage Manager on the iPad for now since I mostly open 2-3 apps in which slideover is still sufficient. 3. I have to admit, I really love docking laptops. This is the hardest one. I really want to dock my iPad and use it with an external monitor. Again, I have to remind myself that my work also involves a lot of travel in which I rarely sit on my desk at home. Love the iPad 10. No regrets on my decision but it is quite a unique niche.

One thing few people say about iPad Air 13 and Pro 12.9 is the screen proportion. Since it is more squared-shape when you watch KZbin videos you lose a lot of screen area forcing it to be empty on the top and at the bottom. I have both of these iPads here and the video size is not that different. So you think you are buying a larger screen but it is almost the same. It is hard to defend the new iPad Air: no promotion, no support to the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro, uses M2 instead of M3, it is heavier. The main problem with the regular iPad is operating system support; at this point you already lost almost half of its upgradability
@kingkristo_17764 ай бұрын

@rodolfopinheiro4 ай бұрын
@@kingkristo_1776 iPad's screen is 4:3 ratio whereas a Galaxy tab s9 ultra is 16:10. What this means for watching videos is that most videos are in the 16:10 proportion, so iPad has to put a black bar on the top and bottom of the video. In other words, you see the video smaller because of this adjustment. In a Galaxy Tab, the video covers the entire screen because it has the same proportion, so you see it bigger. In summary, even if on paper the screen size is the same, the experience is different because of this adjustment

Used to recommend most people buy from Apple, the basic iPad 9th generation but, now that this is no longer available, just buy the iPad Air. Because, it is better in every way (with the exception of price) than the basic iPad 10th generation (smile...smile).

I was debating what to buy to replace my iPad Air 2 that is finally getting slow and battery dies quickly. When I found that retail stores were putting the 64 gig iPad Air (5th gen) on sale for $400, it was a very easy choice. Plus Best Buy is giving me $110 for trade in on my iPad Air 2, so not a bad deal overall. I figure if the iPad Air 2 gave me 9 years of use with no issues, going with another Air was a no brainer.

The issue with the iPad is not the hardware, but the software. As long as the smallest iPad and the maxed out iPad Pro share the same crippled iPad OS, it doesn‘t really matter what you choose. You still can‘t replace a laptop.

This. They need to spin the Pro out to the Mac team. Kill the iPad Pro and make a new MacBook Touch.

As someone planning on buying an iPad with music production as the main focus, I was leaning towards the 10th gen. I had no idea that Logic won't run on the A14 chip and that is an absolute deal breaker for me. Thank you so much for your detailed and concise comparison and for saving me from a huge disappointment!

It does run logic pro as I bought one yesterday and I have logic pro on it lool and it's even on the Apple store online it tells you that the iPad 19th gen works with logic it's on the product page

this Christmas, I’m getting the iPad Air. Right now I’m using an iPad Air generation three, and I think the upgrade the air is a lot better than upgrading to the 10th generation iPad. I do digital art, and honestly prefer the colors of the air a lot more so I think it’s a smarter upgrade because I will be keeping it for a while. It’s kinda an investment

The problem is, if you get the normal ipad and you find the 64gb way too low, you have your get the 256gb one and if you get that one you could also just get the air one cause the price difference isnt big

You can always plug in a USB-C hub and use an external SSD drive. It's one option instead of more money upgrading. :)

Great review. I bought the iPad Air 13 as a gift based on the larger screen someone needed. It was the best option/features without the Pro's price point.
@kingkristo_17764 ай бұрын
Someone said screen size doesn’t make a huge difference cause a lot of videos have the black bars on the top and bottom.. and the shape of the iPad just causes the bars to be larger instead of the actual picture. do you think that’s true?

Question: So the iPaid Air 13" will it work on the previous Magic Keyboard that was used for iPad Pro 12.9?

I'm looking at upgrading from the iPad to an iPad AIr (M2). My current iPad is on five months old. It has a significant software problem (maybe hardware too) in that it consistantly disconnects FaceTime. I use FaceTime a lot with my daughter and granddaughters, so this is a HUGE issue for me. Apple is working the problem, but as of this writing, Apple does NOT have a solution. I'm hoping that the iPad Air (M2) does not have the same problem.

Ipads are meant to be used for simple tasks, email, searching the web, youtube videos, doing simple sketches, editing photos, and not even videos. Anything more demanding use a laptop. I have an ipad pro (previous model)11 inches and a 9th gen ipad 10.2 (2021) both work well with no issues. Difference is: better speed smoother transitions, screen quality and pro motion 120hz none of them justify the price difference for doing basic stuff.

As a current college student- I really, really enjoyed my transition over from paper and pen hand-written notes to digital hand written notes. I currently use the 2nd gen Apple Pencil between my Air 4 (or 5 I can’t remember it was the gen with the green instead of purple additions) and my 11” pro. My air is no longer usable and my 11” pro is still good. However, admittedly I have a love/hate relationship with the 2nd Apple Pencil cuz of the tap feature. I keep tapping- double, triple or quadruple tapping it cuz my brain goes haywire. If my current iPad blew up right now, I’m not sure which IPad I would choose. The regular 10.9” absolutely can do the job and do it well. However I would love more real estate to write, but that’s even more money. Hmmm

I think the problem Apple is facing is so many people already own previous gen iPads that are still capable of doing 90%of the tasks listed in this video. There doesn’t seem to be any real reason to upgrade. I still, have a 2018 iPad Pro that is so usable, I may not upgrade until it no longer receives software support.
@marcalvarado19157 ай бұрын
I’m writing this on my 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 inch. I’m finally upgrading because I cracked the screen and my battery life just doesn’t last as long. I ordered the 11 inch air as I’m hoping the M2 will give me as much longevity as this iPad Pro. This thing still does everything I need it too even at 7 years old!

I’m so on the fence between the ipad 10th gen and the air 11 (even more so after this) . Its prime would be normal everyday "stuff" and some photo editing "on the go" with lightroom . The other concern is , is the air more future proof than the 10 . No interest in gaming etc and cant see id use the pencil overly much . Words of wisdom please !!! There's also the element that at £320 Id be far more "relaxed" about slinging it in a backpack than £600 !

I am just about to retire my I-pad air 2 64 gb bought in 2014, newly released. Still works but some apps are not being supported and the battery doesn't last more than 2 hours. Basic user here, web browsing, on line shopping, Netflix and holiday companion but I would be inclined for the new I-pad Air which could potentially last me for another 9/10 years.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 512gb. I use it to make videos using iMovie. It works fine except it's increasingly hard for me to see (I'm 72 yrs old). Would the iPad 10 work for me? I don't want to spend so much on the iPad Air. I see the iPad 10 only comes with 256 as the highest. Do you think that would work for me? BTW, even though I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie, I prefer to use my phone as it is simpler to make videos and has enough bells and whistles for my videos. I guess I want an iPad that is at least the equivalent of my iPhone. but without cellular. I sure would appreciate your opinion. I really enjoyed your video! Thanks for the clear comparison!

I was so determined to buy the new iPad Air 11" 128gb until I watched some reviews. Now, I could really use some help deciding which iPad to buy. I will mainly use it for studying/reading, social media, watching videos, and maybe some drawing in my free time. (I already have a MBP M2). I am really torn between the iPad 10th gene (256gb) with the USB-C Pencil and the new iPad Air because they are both in the same price range.

Hey I’m in the same situation as you. I think I’m going to buy the regular iPad 10 to save some money and get the keyboard and pencil all together. I feel like the iPad 10 only now is a viable option because it is finally below the price of a refurb Air 4 from Apple (they come with fresh batteries unlike other refurbs). The Air 4 is still superior in every way but is now $50 more expensive and also not often available on Apple’s site. iPad 10 is a good deal finally.
