Today we dive into EnderIO, firstly to complete the automation of Benzene by investing in the Farming Station. This allows us to automate Spruce Trees and complete the Loop in the creation of Benzene. Then we decide to invest in the Inventory Panel to sort the storage problem. Throughout the episode we also refine Ore Processing, move the auto Miner, automate SISG, explore the Nether and build our first HV machine!

Hey three, you can actually replace one part of the lumber axe with obsidian and then use the 7 upgrades to get unbreaking 10 (3 from the obsidian part and 7 from the modifiers)

You can also make one of the parts from thaumium for a free modifier, then add 2 modifiers with gold block + diamond/notch apple + diamond block, so you only need to get 4 through levelling up. You can also get another modifier through thaumcraft once you've unlocked that - probably not quite worth it at this stage but useful later on if you need a lot of farming stations.

I could never run through this pack. It would try my patience far too much. I'm generally a fairly patient person, but this is on another level. Thank you allowing me to vicariously experience the pack with you and I'm glad you are actually enjoying your time spent. I'm sure successfully climbing out of a rabbit hole and completing your objective feels fantastic. Keep the good times coming.

Tbf, once you get past LV, threre is not that much of "waiting" actually since you have A LOT to do and most of the processes need different machines so while you "wait" for something you can go mining, do some thaumcraft, automate another process, craft some better gear for yourself, exploration, etc... The pack is so dense that there is always something to do + quest book is very well made except some of the quantities it asks sometimes and the "crafting task" at the start of the pack making it a bit of a pain. I think the waiting comes way later when you have to wait for some AE2 process that take ages but I'm not there yet and having your world on a server can help for that too

You honestly could get away with using smaller/cheaper pipes than Potin in the benzene setup, but I do find it's useful to have an isolated buffer build in in case of a power blackout. The sizeable Potin Pipes also ensure that if you're ever going to run (part of) the setup off of a much lighter fuel than Benzene (say the excess of Hydrogen you'll eventually be extracting from 1,2-dymethilbenzen) you've got the throughput to be able to do that. Or should, at any rate. Fun Fact: One of the byproducts of centrifuging Ashes is Calcium, which can be processed into Calcite, which is an ingredient in Concrete. I've added a short list of uses and usual sources for the various byproducts from centrifuging Ashes to the spreadsheet, so take a look there if you want to get an idea about what you're getting. Highly recommended reading for Thaumcraft enthusiasts, by the way - Calcium and Magnesium both are good sources of the usually hard to get Sano essentia. This is around the point where you're going to have to start investing in these kinds of ore processes. You don't need a full-blown ore processing line, though if you've got the power for it you can make one if you so choose, but you are going to have to start extracting more resources from your ore to keep up with demand (ruby/chrome) and extract byproducts either for now (gold) or for later (platinum metallic powder dust). Another way to get Tantallum (and Chrome, and Gold for that matter) is Metal Transmutation via Thaumcraft. It requires a Taboo research, so yay Warp, but it's one way to solve a fair number of otherwise rare metals. Managing a full blown ore processing system in early HV (you're very likely going to want to rush HV macerators for the byproduct chance they have) is entirely possible. In fact that's what I did in my own survival playthrough, and no regrets on setting that up...though in hindsight the design *definitely* needed some work. But, in short, (a series of) Extra Utilities Item Transfer Nodes, Filter Pipes and Item filters can do all of the filtering you need. The trick is that Extra Utilities Item Filters can be nested, so you can have filters inside filters, and it'll consider everything that's contained within the nested filters. From there it's easy to send everything into color-coded chests (see Chisel "Present" chests), send those items along color-coded conduit lines into machines, and send the outputs either to the final output chest or back into the central input chest as is necessary. Setting up full-blown ore processing like that in early HV is something I do recommend, since while you will be replacing the entire system circa-mid IV it takes a while to get there, and that new and improved ore processing system isn't going to process the materials it needs to build itself *before* you've build it anyway. The two key pieces of advice I've learned from my own line: Ensure that it's expandable in *all* directions (more filtering, bigger central input buffer, bigger central output buffer, bigger storage, more machines, *everything*), and only fully process what you actually need. If something gives a byproduct you really want (platinum, gold, chrome, manganese, etc.) process it fully. If something only gives you extra iron, *don't* process it fully. Those Steam Grinders you've build ever so long ago will still play a critical role in HV tier ore processing, and those simple ore washers likewise when something yields a valuable byproduct after being ore washed, but ore washing itself is useless and expensive and slower than molasses. Remember: Inefficient to be efficient! A faster way to grab Obsidian early, and one that doesn't consume precious redstone dust (recall that's mercury/ruby dust), is to use an Equal Trade wand focus to exchange Obsidian for Cobblestone, or whatever other cheap block you've got way too much of. If you don't fancy diving into lava lakes to get obsidian you can run around the Twilight and Equal Trade the obsidian pillars that Ravens like to spawn near, but digging underground to a lava lake is definitely faster/yields way more Obsidian. Just don't forget to bring a bucket of water with you. The SAG Mill's big claim to fame in GTNH is that with the right grinding ball it has a chance to yield more of a given ore's primary output than GT processing might have gotten you, but there's very few situations where that's relevant and the material cost of keeping such a thing running is absurd. Something to keep in mind, though I don't know if it's been fixed since 2.2.3 (which is the version Three is running, although 2.2.8 is available), is that there are a few chemical bath recipes that don't show in the NEI overview page. One notable example probably being Crushed Tantalite, which yields 30% Tantalum dust when processed in a chemical bath with Sodium Persulfate. You can also craft HV machine hulls in the Assembling Machine with liquid Polyethylene if you want to avoid turning them into plates first. The same is actually true for LV and MV machines, where the liquid PE will replace Wrought Iron in the recipe, but depending on your PE supply Wrought Iron is definitely going to be cheaper. A piece of advice for any Thaumcraft enthusiasts: Save those HV lootbags until you can enchant them. Wand progression is going to demand Nano Goggles of Revealing early on, and that in turn (eventually) requires Night Vision Goggles. Despite the questbook only having been partially informed they do require EV circuits to craft, which requires a Cleanroom, which is a huge rabbithole of tech and crafting. You can also get them from HV lootbags, however, so you might wish to save those until after you can enchant them for the increased chance at getting early Night Vision Goggles/Nano Goggles of Revealing. Hint: Batch craft the hell out of those thrice damned TFC dusts, because they're very painful to keep crafting and you're going to need them sooner or later anyway. Unlike 1.12 EnderIO machines will run without any capacitor...but they'll run at the speed of a lethargic snail. So definitely invest in good capacitors for them (and the power required to run them at full speed, of course). It'll make a very big difference. Farming Stations without a Capacitor have a range of 3 blocks out from the Farming Station. Every tier of Capacitor above that (so double layered -> octadic -> crystalline) increase this range by 2. As for power Farming Stations require 1A LV power using a Double-Layered Capacitor, 1A MV using an Octadic Capacitor, and 2A MV using a Crystalline Capacitor - I don't know why the Farming Station says it takes X RF/t because there's no chance that thing is telling any sort of truth. In general the amount of power they need - at least ran as a tree farm - is *extremely* variable, but the above numbers should at least suffice for a benzene setup. That's why I tested the throughput and power requirements of those things anyway, though I'll freely admit that part of the testing may not have been as thorough as it perhaps should have been. Farming Stations can be frustrating to deal with. GT generators can directly output into conduits (in fact you can see that it did in the tooltip - the conduit had energy in it), even if they don't do so elegantly. If you don't want to use a Capacitor to hide the power conduits obviously a Facade is what you're looking for. I would highly recommend a Sealable Aluminum Wire/Oxygen Pipe block as the facade block, it looks *amazing* when there's a single conduit going through, but unfortunately this block requires an Implosion Compressor to craft (it's from Galacticraft, hence why). Energy conduits are also definitely worth using in this instance since it allows you to input power while having item conduits in the same space as well. And as we're almost certainly about to see item output for this Farming Station is going to be *a problem*... Now imagine all of that back and forth without concrete making you walk faster than you'd sprint with Boots of the Traveller on regular blocks. I don't care how ugly they are, their speed boost is just too good to pass up...for now 🙃. In 1.7 the Reinforced modifier from tool parts stack with the Reinfoced modifier you place on tools. For getting an unbreakable lumber axe my favorite (though not necessarily the best/cheapest) method is to craft a Lumber Axe with an Obsidian Large Plate, and Thaumium everything else. Thaumium tool parts can be crafted in a part builder, no millennia long extruder recipes necessary, and with three tool parts made of Thaumium the tool will start with +2 Modifiers. Given the Obsidian Large Plate adds Reinforced III you're halfway to an Unbreakable tool right out the gate. A Thaumium lumber axe head does require more xp to level than a temporary Netherrack one would, but getting those first few levels should be fast regardless. Something you can - and should - do in order to speed up the Farming Station (as a tree farm) is have it plant saplings on Fertilized Dirt. It's quite cheap, but makes a *major* difference in terms of log generation. Of course with that comes a problem: Item output. Full Extraction Speed upgrades and a Transvector Interface so the Farming Station itself can auto-output isn't going to cut it. You *need* protection against stuff dropping on the floor, and aggressively so. I recommend Advanced Item Collectors, expensive as they are. Something to note is that the Benzene setup itself will eventually get bottlenecked with just an LV conveyor module extracting logs. The reason I use Small Electrum Pipes in fact is because eventually even an MV conveyor module isn't enough, and Small Electrum Pipes can keep up with an HV conveyor module.

Equal trade wand with torches is the way to go for harvesting obsidian (or other blocks). The torches count as an air block and cause equal trade to automatically harvest the block behind, which drops the torch, so one click can basically hollow out a 7x7x7 cube (or bigger once you upgrade the focus). Particularly good when you combine it with an amber wand/staff that automatically recharges vis pretty much as fast as you can use it.
@hacatu
@hacatu Жыл бұрын
A couple thaumcraft tips: you can dupe tantalum with the thaumatorium and it's maybe worth eventually automating that. For infusion stabilization, use ancient cobblestone slabs. You should use the assembler machine recipe for machine hulls to save on metal and plastic. I always requires a lower tier assembler afaik. You don't need to use battery buffers or anything to convert EU to RF, gt wires do so automatically. However, the wire has to be placed after the RF consuming machine and there must be at least one EU consuming machine connected to the wire. You can use the wrath cage from forbidden magic instead of powered spawners, since you can change what it spawns very easily, but it requires very heavy magic progression

Dense Obsidian Plates is something you should have batch-crafting as soon as you can afford the power, pretty much. They take an ungodly amount of time to craft and are used in things you're going to need/want in large quantities. Even with the HV Assembling Machine recipe it's 4 dense plates per Compressed Chest, and if you don't dive neck-deep into Thaumcraft before pulling Ender Chests out of IV lootbags you're going to need a dozen (if not more) compressed chests per multiblock miner down the line. Another, easier way Three could have powered that HV machine was by using that HV battery hull he got as a quest reward. Machines will charge batteries (and tools) inside them when their buffer is full, and drain batteries to power themselves when that buffer is low. With an HV battery you can run an HV machine off of MV or even LV power, but of course the caveat is that the machine can only run intermittently. And some recipes (see: Extruding TiC tools) are so energy intensive this strategy can't work at all. Still, in the cases where the recipe doesn't require consistent power and the machine doesn't need to run constantly a battery is a much safer solution that messing about with transformers. Those things are base killers. Oh Three, really proving that "HV to MV, yes" quote is unquestionably yours. Transformers of all stripes have an internal power buffer, and that buffer is enough to send high voltage packets down low voltage lines if you mess up. *Never* connect a transformer to power until it has been rotated/set correctly, and *never* rotate a transformer after it has been connected to live wire. If you're supremely paranoid about transformers causing issues when upscaling power one solution is to separate the transformer from the low voltage line with a Diode. This is inefficient since there's a tax on extracting power from machines (and yes, this does also apply to generators and battery buffers - GT is never that simple), but a Diode's output side cannot accept power input. So in case you mess up and accidentally send HV power into an MV Diode...it does nothing. Because the Diode's output slot cannot accept power. Note that Machine Hulls function like 1A Diodes, which is why Diode recipes start at 2A. Of course there's nothing stopping you from rotating the Diode as well and causing explosions that way, it'll still pop if it any of it's non-output sides get higher voltage power, but since the Diode should only ever have to face the one side hopefully mistakes on that front would be limited to misclicks only. The large dot on a transformer is always the high voltage side, and the small dots are always the low voltage sides. High voltage is always 1A, low voltage is always 4A (barring high-amp transformers, but those follow the same principle, just with more amps). Whether a given side is output or input depends on the setting, whether the transformer transforms down or up. WAILA will tell you whether a given side is input or output given the current transformer setting. Blazes in this pack are always infernal, and without Fire Resistance they can stack up the damage real fast. Especially when Vengeance mobs inevitably spawn. Do not underestimate the danger of Blazes, and the slow speed of health regen in 1.7. Pack a bunch of hearts and Fire Resistance in whatever manner you can acquire it. That said there is an alternative to get Blaze Powder specifically using magic, namely Incendium from Thaumic Bases, but this only produces powder and you're going to need if not Blaze Rods some other drop from a dangerous mob sooner or later anyway, so it's better to invest in combat capabilities sooner rather than later. Vats cannot directly output their Nutrient Distillation into Inventory Panels, by the way, so conduits will be necessary. Also note that Inventory Panels will drain the fluid passively even when it's not in use, but it can be made using a variety of items - Rotten Flesh, raw meat and zombie brains will also work for the left input, and sugar, nether wart and fermented spider eyes also work for the right input. The reason (presumably) the questbook wants you to craft a Powered Spawner first is to automate rotten flesh from a zombie spawner, but this isn't necessary to create a mob farm. One little known fact about Extra Utilities Cursed Earth, which you can get at this point (just takes a bit of Thaumcraft, and yes, an awful lot of good stuff is indeed locked behind that mod), is that when placed directly below a vanilla mob spawner (though it need not be a vanilla spawner for a vanilla mob, necessarily) it will cause the spawner to work even when no players are nearby. This allows you to turn any vanilla zombie spawner into a mob farm, given all the relocators/fans/vacuum hoppers/diamond spikes/etc. that a mob farm usually requires. Just add nether wart or sugar, and boom: Automated Inventory Panel. Mob farms in general a quire powerful in GTNH, and I highly recommend setting one up. Speaking of the Inventory Panel, while normally I wouldn't recommend actually bothering with it (AE2 itself isn't *that* far away if you rush it, which admittedly is what Three said he didn't want to do this go around, but regardless you can manage until IV with just keeping yourself organized easily enough) there's *one* little thing about it that makes it mesh really well with a later bit of magic shenaniganry - yes, yet more Thaumcraft - in order to get, effectively, an interdimensional wireless AE2 terminal pre-Moon. Admittedly the actual AE2 version you can set up reasonably well post-T2 rocket, given that unlocks the Spectre Key and with it access to the Spectre dimension, but still. It pays to invest heavily into magic 🙃. Finding Stainless Steel as loot in the Twilight Forest or the Overworld (hint: check the wells in the Twilight, some have chests in them) isn't too difficult, which allows you to get into Thaumcraft pretty early. However to properly break out into Thaumcraft you're going to need some HV machines (and components) to craft the necessary stuff for QoL features and wand progression - there's considerable overlap there. As such you can delay diving into Thaumcraft until that point, but I would not suggest putting it off any longer than that. Thaumcraft - magic mods in general in GTNH - have absolute tons of QoL features and items locked behind them, so it's worth diving into. And if you go a bit crazy in the process, well, there's solutions for that too 🙃.

Silver and gold, especially the latter, are a pain to get in enough quantity to not be constantly running out. It seems that you're planing to starting with IC2 crops and autofarming, so I heavily recommend on investing in the metal plants. A single crushed ore, a bucket of water and 9 drops of whatever plant is needed in a chemical reactor and you get FOUR purified ores, sometimes even some additional molten metal! Sometimes you can even transform common ores into more valuable ones, like crushed magnetite into gold! It does require a heavy investment tho, apart of the time to get the crop you want AND with decent stats, each crop requires a full block of material to fully grow, and if the plan is to process all ores this way, then the multifarm is really the only economical way I see of getting enough from the crops to be worth it, but if it's only one or two then a dedicated crop harvester should suffice. With that being said, happy craftmas! And a Greggy new year!

Keep it up, and just remember, you brought me through my 1/2 year finals and so much stress! You make my day with every upload, and I appreciate you so much!

Day 2 of asking for Threefold to play DD&SS next
@mrShift_0044
@mrShift_0044 Жыл бұрын
A) he just started a modpack with average complete time of ~5000 REAL DAYS and you NOW need to start asking for yer stuff? B) what's DD&SS is anyway? Why is it worth playing for Three, what's cool things it has in it? (You know it's not really possible to play two modpacks nonstop and produce like 2 videos a week at that schedule, right?) C) Why didn't you suggest this "DD&SS" when he finished INFERNO modpack? He said he was unsure on what to play next. D) Please don't spam this sort of comments under every video, you don't really have any real influence over other real people, and this particular youtuber does own you anything, please don't spoil the good experience because you want something. This sort of behavior already drove one other relatively close youtuber from playing a modpack entirely, because people kept asking for it in the comments. C'mon.

as for axe. you can put some part with obsidian (but not handle) which gives reinforcement 3 + free modifier (diamond and gold block). thel level up it 5 times and apply paper or thaumium handle which gives writable modifier ( +1 mod) so this all in total make it unbreakable. it's better then level up it 10 times

Hulls can be done in the assembler Diamond chests can be done in the assembler Transformers do have an internal buffer
@mrShift_0044
@mrShift_0044 Жыл бұрын
Every EU handling block in the Gregtech has hidden internal buffer, usually enough for 2 full operations, so in case of transformer enough to send 2 pulses of 5 amps in every lower voltage dimension or 2 pulses of higher voltage in higher voltage side. It's also really easy to handle, because block by default placed higher voltage side (bigger dot) to face the player and it WON'T power on if the voltage side is incorrect. So all you need to SAFELY place transformer is to a)connect it to one cable of fitting voltage (no matter higher or lower side, just not to the both of them at the same time), b) rotate it correctly to point higher voltage dot to the side you want, c) THEN change transformer mode if needed, and only then d) connect the second cable, after making sure everything is pointing the right way. It did not failed me at any point of my experience, you just need to make sure to not accidentally spam mode switch when the big dot is pointed in wrong direction pretty much.

Hey i know you have plans to move to a void world but if i could suggest that you dont and rather keep building up this base. Void worlds are so boring and every person making videos just moves to a void world and just builds machines and it just seems like a skyblock at that point. I feel like your building potential would be wasted if you did. :)

Bro I can't imagine not having an automated ore processing system at HV. With Item Conduits with priorities set properly into a few Item Type Filters you can send types of items into a central conduit "bus" to route them to banks of machines. Combined with Item Filters for the few items that need a specific type of processing (like the mercury bath ones) you can really easily set up a modular, extendable and automated ore processing system.

@@Threefold. honestly, it's a bit worse than any good large technical modpack. You progress trough the tech, and then all you need to do is to place and balance machines to produce maximum final recourse like frames or engines, and then you just place same machines for hours and hours on end without real challenge like GTNH or many other packs do.
