A Joule is the heat from one Amp going through one ohm for one second. A calorie is the heat needed to raise one gram of water one degree centigrade. A large Calorie, capital C, raises 1 kg of water o e degree, and is now called a kilocalorie.

Thanks. How many Joules make a kilocalorie? That would allow us to calculate how much warming 700 Zeta Joules means in terms of the Ocean/Land/Air complex.

Wouldn't the melting of glaciers and ice caps bring the deep water temperature down, again masking the energy accumulation and flooding coastal regions - and when all the ice has melted, that would be equivalent to closing the outflow on the large pipe, which would soon escalate the level in the small pipe?
@johnbunyan3070 Жыл бұрын
@@ulicadluga short answer 4.18 joules per short calorie, 4186 joules per kilocalorie.

@@ulicadluga I'm having some problems getting my comments posted, so in short the graph at 19m00s is from a preprint paper called essd-2022-239.pdf, and shows a 370 ZJ rise from 1960 to 2020, about 6 ZJ a year.

42:20 No, it's not going to take that long. Nowhere near that long. We're on this, more than you think.

16:01 And the difference between the greenhouse/non-greenhouse equatorial zones/non-equatorial zones. Even Saint NASA hasn't been able to model those two titans accurately yet. Needs more Disney Magic Dust I should surmise.

Best explanation of climate change so far!

Had to give up. 10 minutes in and the guy has already told us to eat ice as a survival tip (wrong, you melt it first) and that water has a memory.

Let's see if we can melt the ice caps and all the other stuff guys! Goals!

So how to cool hot tropical air, with the help of cool deep sea water? Do we push hot or warm air through pipe into deep ocean, to circulate back again to us as cold air, or what.
@johnbray3143 Жыл бұрын
That pipe model didn't help. I think introducing even those simple equations confused thing, and it could be explained well enough in English. Never liked this kind of approach when I worked at UKMO

What a joke. Trying to explain thermodynamics with fluid mechanics is like explaining surgery using knitting. Similar in simpleton terms only.

show us the 'disappointing' line, anyway. too many people have no sense of proportion these days and use science to see what they want.
