Autism, to be explained in the simplest way, simply means that your brain works a bit differently than the majority. The main characteristics are having trouble with social cues, sensory issues, repetitive, soothing behaviors (like eating beans) and so on. To most people they can seem very “normal” (but I would avoid using that word)

@h0lly_blue

people are scared of what they don't understand, and in this case it's a young woman speaking facts, who started off as a teenager speaking facts, and if there's one thing grumpy older people hate, it's youths trying to make a difference and change their world because "BACK IN MY DAY WE DIDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT RUBBISH LIKE THAT" - well we're not in their day anymore, we're in ours, and they'll just have to get used to that the same way we will in a few generations their way of life is petering out and they can't accept that, so they instead have to lash out at the current generations to make up for it
@h0lly_blue
@h0lly_blue Жыл бұрын
@Ama Daetz case in point - god forbid a young person is successful in any sort of way that effects closed-minded people's regressive mentalities, because obviously they're too young and too naive to think for themselves without letting the "grownups" talk for them I hope you don't reproduce, because you'd be a shit parent if you'd belittle, demean and scoff at your kids - the ones you can't replace, the ones who will eventually have to take care of you at some point provided they don't dump you in some unnamed, uncharted and underdeveloped nursing home in the valley because they can't stand the sight of you - the same way you do to Greta

Yeahhh... Well the thing about celebrities and activists... Is that they don't ACTUALLY work on the things they preach. They just there to talk and open their mouths with some "positive bs".... I'm literally a professional Environmentalist and NOBODY asked me to be on tv and they couldn't care less if I defend the Environment on the streets. And btw... Mannyyyyyyyyy people like me who dedicate their hearts and souls to the cause. We literally have heroes that NOBODY cares about.... So if you think I'm here for fame or money ahahahah NOPE! It's just to point out the "white insanity" of the thing really... Because a white Swedish girl can rant on tv and EVERYBODY will listen, while others, who work their ass off, from other ethnicities get ZERO. Not even an interview!!! Because a small white girl who never worked will provide "real information" about the state of things you know... And I would bet that if she works on the 'real stuff' she will quickly find out that it isn't a place for a white girl.... What... Being in the filth that people create and dispose??? Being paid the minimum wage for that??? Getting trashed by the anti-environmentalists on the streets??? Oh my.... Where can I sign for that "piece of action". Yeah... Let's see where she will be in 20 years. Btw... Not trying to bash Greta, I actually like her... It's just, she doesn't know her place in the world yet. I did not expect just how good this was! Incredibly fun, I laughed a lot, but also so thought-provoking, and genuine, and energising in a way that feels like I gained so much sense of purpose again, after feeling so tired when dealing with the very heavy topic that is the climate crisis. Thank you for this. Love what she says about hope at around 7:10

He and Trevor Noah is really good as interviewers. They let people talk without interrupting or trying to be overly funny. Also, they actually make themselves familiar with what the guests is there to promote. It often feels like a chat between friends than makes the guest relax.

He humanises everyone, even Jordan Peterson who is under attack from the opposite side to Greta’s detractors. Really like how he gives them the chance to explain things in their own words.

The hope I get from this video is not its content so much, but in its reach below! At the age of 62 I find every time I hear Greta I learn something new. HOPE a verb, it is an act not given, but earned, don't expect people to give you hope, which I often hear so much of these days, you have to work at it. That is so true, I know because for 30 years of campaigning and making the changes in my life to what I think is important to address the climate, helps to strength my resolve. Plus I have had some wins along the way, some from the most unexpected quarters, but each time I hear or just see my influence take shape, it strengthens my hope in humanity. Thank you Greta and you to Russell.

What a fantastic interview, Russell really brings out what a funny, engaging young girl she is. The reason many adults attack her (and there was a particularly mean spirited article in the London Telegraph telling middle aged men to stop idolising her) is that she sees through the cynicism of adults. Whether that’s her age, her autism or just her personality, it’s a powerful weapon. People attack what they fear.

What an amazing interview. I cant give enough thumbs-up to the replies on there. Great receives far too much bad press. More people need to see this interview to see a totally different side to her. Loved hearing her giggle (and snort). Not always been a fan of Russell Howard, but he handled this superbly well, Full credit where its due
