I can relate to a drummer who buys and designs his own kit. It's especially cool when the drummer could easily be sponsored and play whatever high end overkill gear the company might drop in his lap. The fact Mr. Wagner gets his gear from reverb and Craig's list raises his cool status to the ultimate high!

Everything has a purpose & has been thought about in detail, but it's apparent he's having fun with it all. I've owned drums made various woods, carbon fiber, fiberglass aluminum and acrylic. My 18x18 RCI starlight acrylic floor tom was easily the best sounding of any kind. It's focus was like a 16", but it's power was almost like a gong drum. Modern vistalites have a better bearing edge and construction than my old 76's did. They sound fatter and cleaner. IIRC, Ludwig vistalites are made by RCI starlight USA.

Modern drum heads last a really long time if you hit them musically. The downside to that is sometimes you don't realize how much is lost until you put a fresh one on because they kind of wear beyond sounding great before they actually wear out.

@ywas123 Well it's not really a rip-off anymore. Tons of drummers nowadays play these sizes and vistalites and Paiste cymbals. But with GVF its like always a rip-off thing with Zeppelin. I mean good for them to finally find their own style but for some time it was just too obvious.
@ywas1237 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s not an exact rip off, I agree. I think these guys are just particular copy cats of zeppelins music, so for the drummer to use a version of the bonham kit just doesn’t sit right. I’d actually be ok with it if he acknowledged the similarity but he doesn’t lol
@Fabi_W7 ай бұрын
@@ywas123 Atleast he's acknowledging Alex Van Halen who in return is a student of Bonhams playing. But yeah it would be right if he just admits the influence of Bonhams presence on his playing.
