That's because of the depression there is so much great music. Honestly, as a metal musician, I would love to move to Finland just to experience this feeling of 'depression' to get inspired. This may sound weird, but I always was writing better music when I was sad and I kinda got used to it and liked this aspect of it

What an absolutely brilliant song! I'm almost 50 and a long time Insomnium fan. This might be my all time favorite song! I listened to Insomnium as my mother was dying. I can't describe the feelings I had but these songs lifted me through the entire ordeal, especially nearing the end of her days. Truly amazing music and lyrics!

Gene, I found metal in the early 80's a few years after my father died. It filled so many voids in me. Later in life I went through a horrible, abusive marriage and metal found me and brought me back into the fold. I hope this message finds you with peace in your heart. \m/

There has always been an afterthought that i might some day move away from Insomnium like we do generally with music as we grow up, mature and our tastes change for better or for worse, but this band is special. I have been listening to Insomnium since 2011 and it still is my most favourite band of all time. I pray to all the gods that when i be laying on my deathbed , let there be insomnium playing in the background. This band is just surreal. It pierces right into your soul. Thank you Insomnium for being such an integral part of my existence on this planet as a human being.

There isn't another band that I'm aware of that can emit such a monstrous roar yet create this mental scene of ecstatic beauty and wonder. Their songs cool the fires of time and allow the rejuvenating feeling of youth and energy to flow within again. Their sound, their words make the world feel it's gripped by my hands and I hold the power to change. And It's not often you witness a band that leaves you mesmerized in its auditory precence. Metal is for and from the butterflies. 🦋

Old is my moon - Circle is complete Long has been the way - The day is giving in The dusk is thickening, cold engulfs the shore I hear across the stream as Charon blows the horn One more summer I ask for, I crave One more autumn just to finish my song Grant me this wish, bestow this gift Ye noble gods I pray When all is done, I'll go down with the sun And welcome the twilight that falls I know it's in vain For it's my time There is no delay Last light will hide Hearken now to the trumpet call As it echoes in the dark (whirls through the night) Time has come to say the farewells Step down into the shades I scrape the sand that's running out, slipping away Dripping now through this weary hands Vanishing into thin air All I ask is one more day to redeem it all Then gladly I will pass and welcome the silent world I know it's in vain For it's my time There is no delay Last light will hide Hearken now to the trumpet call As it echoes in the dark (whirls through the night) Time has come to say the farewells Step down into the shades With no sounds, upon the calm stream The black boat moves, like mist on the waves Slowly Charon rows, slowly sky turns Stars fade away, we enter the shades But a wanderer I am on the heaths of night On this shore now ends, ends my prolonged path I am home at last Tonight my dust is being, being gathered here And brought before my father Set before his throne, I am home at last

+Teron Gorefiend I think Acheron was the beggining of it,aka the part of Styx that was on the upper world.Charon didnt cross it,since he passed the passengers on the ohter side when they were already in the underworld.Not sure about this tho fyi
@Shortokeiki8 жыл бұрын
Depends on the version of the myths I suppose. In Dante's Divine Comedy, Charon ferries across Acheron between Purgatory and Hell, while Phlegyas ferries across the Styx in the 5th circle. Other versions simply say Charon ferried across the Styx to Hell.

John-Vidar Antonsen a lot of their songs have elements of black metal, and progressive metal. The complexity of this band is the reason I think they may be one of the greatest

Good song but it would be better as a psychological dissertation on pagan thought regarding mortality and the inevitability of death in the cycles of this world. I guess that can be a very emotional concept though and song is ideal for emotional convayance.
