As an agriculture student, your stories have been really helping me understand more the crises that our local farmers and local communities are experiencing nowadays and empathize w them. Hoping that the gov't would immensely support & prioritize our farmers and take action (kahit parang malabo lol). I agree Farmers are so Important in any Country kc galing sa kanila ang food na nabibili natin .

My dad recommend that I watch this episode of yours. The mark up is too much with all the middlemen these crops go through. We need to end this and help all our farmers. I hope you'll tackle more local and national issues that will be an eye opener to us. And for the viewers, liking is not enough, let's do our part as consumers.

Ang pinaka mainam na maitutulong po natin sa mga farmers is to choose kadiwa stores hnd lang para makatulong kundi mapromote at mapalawig pa Ang kadiwa stores Nationwide 😁 simple but workable 😊
@jhomin2691 Жыл бұрын

The right person who can lead this problem is the one who knows the ins and outs of vegetable/fruit farming and trading. If this is solved, both farmers and consumers will benefit. Programming, upgrading and regulations about middlemen is good.
@nrtinio58082 жыл бұрын
Farming is like a game of luck. Farmers hope for good weather condition to harvest quality farm produce and hope that the traders/ middlemen can give them fair price commensurate to the amount of money, time and volume of hard work they invest on their products. I hope the government gives them 100% support because, they are the ones who bring food on our tables, they are ones who constantly maintain our nation's food security. Improving and modernizing farming, providing them high-tech food storage facilities to keep their products fresh from farm to market and monitoring trading process to ensure that the farmers gets a fair financial return of their investment. If we do these, there will be no reason for us to import agricultural products from other countries.

My roots come from the North (Ilocos). Although I never lived there, I grew up eating a LOT of fresh vegetables. Sure, we love our meats, but we always have one vegetable dish in every meal. As kids, we'd whine and say, "Oh no, we're eating grass and flowers AGAIN lol! Hindi talaga nawawala ang gulay. Seeing how vegetables grow so well in the north, I feel like I'd totally love living in Benguet. The cool weather plus the fresh vegetables. I just hope one day Filipino farmers will get the support from the govt. I just subscribed. I think this'll be a new fave yt channel after Erwan's Featr.

In the 70’s, mountains in Baguio city was lined up with thousands of Pine trees, vegetables and berries. At present I can see through videos that gone was the sight and scent of Pine trees but what you see are houses that sprouts like mushrooms. I will include this city in my wish list in my forthcoming visit to the Philippines. MN🇺🇸

I’m glad of the benefits of social media nowadays (basta huwag sa maling paraan gamitin 😆). I came from a generation of farmers, noong high school ako kapag start ng school year magpapakilala ka at kung anong trabaho ng parents mo. I was often laughed at because my parents are farmers. Pero may isa akong teacher na nagtanggol sa akin, he scolded my classmate who commented bad and taught the whole class a lesson: “without the farmers, any other profession will not prosper (will eventually die down).” I think during pandemic nakita na natin na “pagkain” lang ang kailangan natin para mabuhay. Sobrang tama yung teacher na yun. Para sa isang simpleng buhay, all you need to live is food. All you need is a farmer. Respetado kasi naa-appreciate nila yung value mo as a person who works hard to put food on their tables. Mayaman kasi protected sila ng government against “traders and cartels”. The government supports them in many ways that they can sell directly to consumers, their produce are from “farm to table” talaga.

These food crisis & farmers issues should get attentions of Secretary of Agriculture & BBM. Why import vegetables from Vietnam & China, instead of helping out Benguet farmers? Herewith govt solutions: 1) Govt must facilitate the transport of products to manila & other cities. 2) Create a cooperative & support for farmers in terms of farming technology, financial assistance & possible subsidy not to lose. Govt. must study Chaebol, Kereitsu & USA marketing & subsidy in agriculture. Feasibility study should be given to UP post graduates programs case study or private think tanks. I will link these issues to the Phil. govt. and related dept. to resolve the issues. We salute the farmers.

The farmers issue are supply chains. Phil. Govt. must intervene and subsidize the farmers to stay afloat to continue their livelihoods. The Farmers in USA are being subsidized by the govt. to remain competitive & profitable. It's called corporate welfare. Gretchen should refers these supply chains issues & underlying problems to BBM, as well as Dept. of Agriculture. Support the farmers, the backbones of the Phil. economy.
