Eight years ago this comment was written. Many today are still saying where did the classic sound go aka traditional sound go. Even with country music having a fluctuation back in the 70's in some way Urban Cowboy hit a nerve . Then there was this ole boy from Carolina Randy Travis that took took the fans by the ear and said y'all running low on that country sound let me help you out. RCA kicked David Ball to the side promotion wise to put money behind Clint Black. Nothing against Clint Black hes country in ky book. Im just saying thats how the business is. Artist have to wait their turn and stoll may not get the attention they should have. Its not that the artist is not good its about money. If they feel they can make a pretty good profit off your tail then you're in the game. The younger generation let their money do the talking for them and the industry listen to them. Complaining won't get you anywhere in their line of business .its the green stuff that counts. If you want the traditional sound on your radio without paying for satellite radio your gonna have to put your money behind the independent artist who are actually singing it because thats who they are and haven't sold out for an opportunity to fuel their dreams with a major recording deal. There was a time when radio had the industry and artist by the balls so to speak. Radio listened to the listener back in the day. Their main goal was to make the public happy because the last thing they wanted was their phones blowing up with angry citizens. Somewhere the game changed. The industry controls them now and there are a few small markets that will be a rebel and aim towards the older sound as much as they can with advertisements to keep the bills paid. I haven't watched the Country Music awards in years. But i do recall that each market of the radio stations had a opportunity to win an award as radio station of the year. Did that play apart of selling out ? I don't know. I could be totally wrong in my thinking or opinion. They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease. In the industry the money gets their attention its a business. The younger generation buying the music put their money in what they wanted to hear. Nothing against tractor and pick-up songs. But i believe there's room on the radio waves for everyone's taste of country music . But honestly some have hijacked the country music label because they don't fit in anywhere else. Its time they get a label of their own. Alternative Country is a suggestion. Good day !
