In the dutch story, (Hans & Grietje) The where tooken in the wood while chopping wood, the dad left them and then the kids found a candyhouse. There was a witch in there and the boy couldn't stop eating. After that the witch tried to cook te boy but the girl pushed the witch into the fire. Witch died kids are happy.

So in the german version (Hänsel&Gretel) the parents took them to the wood to get strawbeerys. Then they found a candyhouse too. The witch gave Hänsel more and more food so he became fat. Gretel had to work for the witch. When the witch wanted to cook Hänsel, gretel pushed her into the oven and they got free. They went back to the wood and came to a river where their dad finally found them. Witch dead, stepmother gone, kids and daddy happy.

The original story - or the one I heard - was that Hansel & Gretel were thrown out by their mother, but she made the father take them into the woods to starve because a famine was going around, & feeding her & her husband was already enough rather than having to feed two children. I think they ended up being eaten or starving to death in the woods. Or they survived. Can't remember. xD The 'Witch Hunters' movie was way better, though.

The fairytale I read when I was a child started like this too, but then (while trying to find their parents or the path that will lead to home) they found a house made of candy. Little did they know the house belonged to a cannibal witch that uses candy to attract lost children. She captured them and was about to cook Hansel when Gretel went berserk on her a** and put her in the stove. They got out alive and I think the fairytale ends here !

But, yeah, I've heard multiple stories, but the most vivid one was that their parents left them. I like the movies' version where the parents were trying to protect the children instead of trying to starve them. But. Y'know. xD

But I always prefer the original fairytales since they are darker and more tragic hehe The movie reminded me a lot of Van helsing which I really liked. The witch hunters was a loooot better. But I think in the story they go the witche's candy house and the witch makes gretel her maid and tries to make hansel fat so she can eat him. Then Gretel takes Hansel out of the cage and pushes the witch into the oven or something.

I don't even know if this counts as a fairy tale. Instead of typing the entire thing (im lazy) I'll just share with you the messed up parts. 'As Hansel and Gretel made their way back home they opened opened their door to be met by their mother, knife in hand. Before they could scream for help she cut out the childrens tongues and fed them to her crow. She threw them out of the house and told them if they ever came back she'd kill them.' And 'Before the witch could throw Hansel in the oven Gretel grabbed her and sliced out the witche's tongue and killing her. Leaving her body to rot outside the children lived happily together in silence for the rest of time.'

Day 17: The contract ended up doing pretty well, now to see if it holds up. Also got a reality check today. I have less than 2 weeks of summer break left. Then it's my last year of school.
