I got this kit in the satin walnut finish and I absolutely love it. The toms sounds so good in person, super lively and warm. For the money you can’t find a better kit imo. Bet drumcenter of Portsmouth are selling these 5 piece shell packs for 789.00 new. Killer deal for these drums

I really hope Gretsch brings back the Marquee with everything it has here (satin finishes, triple flange hoops, different interior than silver sealer, available configurations, add-on drums etc) except for 2 or 3 things to be changed- I'd love to see more 22x16 kick drums from Gretsch so it would be very cool to see that size on this kit, and since this kit was discontinued because of the similarity to the Renown, I'd love to see a different wood like birch or a birch hybrid with ash, mahogany, walnut, cherry or something like that. (The third thing being the option for tom mounts on the bass drum, but that isn't required). There are a lot of birch kits from the major manufacturers at the 1250-1500 price point so it would be cool to see Gretsch's take on this!!

Sound like DWs to me. Not saying that as a good or bad thing, just would've sworn they were DWs based on the tom sound, atleast with regards to the attack...resonance could be a little different I suppose. Anyway, nice video Sweetwater! Glad to see you guys taking drums so seriously now :)

DW didn’t buy Gretsch they bought distributing rights. Gretsch Drums are not made by dw in any way, the high end Gretsch are still made in North Carolina like they always have been.

+Snowy City yes, I knew they would be when they came out. Gretsch positioned these between the Catalina Maple and Renown, no market for it.

I was one of about 5 people who picked this kit up, it seems. And I love it! I never even bothered with the 8" or 10" tom and set it up as a kind of jazz(y) kit. I left the Gretsch reso head on the kick and paired it with a Remo Ambassador Fiberskyn. I've got coated Remo Ambassadors as reso heads for the 12" and 16" toms, paired with Remo Vintage As for batters. I've got a 14" x 5.5" Gretsch maple snare with metal/satin walnut hoops, using a Remo Hazy Ambassador snare side and Remo Pinstripe top side. Sometimes I just sit and stare at it...and when I play it...it's wondrous.

How much did these differ from Renowns anyway? Basically I can only think of the triple flange hoops and no silver sealer, is there anything else?
