Outstanding guitars! I have two of them, because one wasn't enough. I have a Double Jet and a Pro Jet. Superlative guitars in their price range and well above. I performed a Variax transplant on the Double Jet and added the Graphtech Ghost piezo loaded bridge. Which makes it the most versatile guitar I own, by far. The heavy chambering made it easy! It's now my #1 stage guitar. Love 'em!

I have the best guitar Gretsch ever put their name on, an Indonesian built Streamliner Jr, no if's or but's about it, I also have 2 American built and 2 Japanese built models, I'm only buying Indonesian built regarding Gretsch guitars from here on, I picked it out after trying around 6 others of the same model Jr and it is a flawless standout 100%....it was instantly recognisable in a shop full of pro players all around me at the time about 2 years back, it's still my main squeeze and is an absolute monster, I've been offered instruments 8 times it's cost and cash into the offer to depart from it...it won't ever be leaving! The only guitar on planet mud ball to replace it is the Collings LP (hollow body but with a closed front like a regular Paul costing about $9 thousand U.S.) -in fact the Collings is modelled after the Gretsch self-admittedly too) I'm fully confident it's not based on the Double Jet at all, it's without doubt modelled only after the Jr with a closed front is all.

Very nice review and just the stye of playing a review needs. At the start of the review of the 5232T you said it has Filtertrons, which is correct I think. At the end you said it has Blacktop Broad'Trons which is incorrect I think.

Is there any problem with neck dive while playing standing up? I wanted to get one of these a year ago but people did a lot of complaining about neck, head stock, dive. Apparently they're not real balanced. They sound great though and I would still love to have one

Hi Mike, I only played these sitting down, but don’t recall them being neck-heavy - certainly not the one with the Bigsby 😁

the G5222 is a bit neck heavy, but with a good strap it's not an issue for me. You get used to it, in about 5 minutes of playing.

Got one. Only thing I can say is the action was too low when i got it and it had a little fret buzz. And the bridge has a slight rattle to it and its a non name bridge and its a known issue. I didn't know these guitars differ in construction as well as the Bigsby and pickups. I wonder why they would go to the trouble to construct these same looking guitars differently. If cost was the issue they would make both the same way.

Is it just me or do the broadtrons sound more "gretschy" to my ears than the filtertrons? No idea, they just seem to sound a bit better, fuller I guess. Although maybe it's just my ears which are more used to the PAF pickups on my les paul guitar. I recently bought one of these guitars (the G5222) and it's a great sounding guitar, and wanted to change the pickups, but damn those broadtrons sound so gooood! :)
@patrickruiz3100 Жыл бұрын
The Broad'Trons doesn't sound like PAF but they are more PAF-liked than the Filter'Trons HS (or the TV-Jones Classics). The Filter'Trons BlackTop are in-between. With the KZbin compression and a different amp and different effects, it's difficult to compare.

I really like this guitar, but if I get it, the first thing I'm going to change is that treble bleed circuit thing, the last thing I want is for the top end to disappear as I'm lowering the master volume control trying to get it to clean up....don't make much sense really. I almost want it to do the exact opposite if anything. I'd rather just leave it alone and let me use the actual tone control to back off the treble if I ever need to, even though i doubt I ever really would to be honest. But that's just me.

Sorry but another "made in china" makes me not happy also when it sounds "ok". 600 Euro rougly - and 665 Euro for the other.. Sorry - Nope. Gosh, i didnt notice that Gretsch made their guitars also in China. If they are produced only in Japan (or South Korea), well thats another thing (if it costs the same). I know thats not what you want to hear or see here, but thats how I'm thinking. The Gretsch Custom Shop US Guitars the same Story as "Fender Custom Shop" .. And they also made it in smaller numbers in the US because of the "exclusivity". But i give the video a like.
@guitarist Жыл бұрын
Gretsch's Professional Collection is all built in Japan, and they represent the highest level of quality within Gretsch's standard production line instrument range. Pro Collection guitars are also significantly more expensive than Gretsch's Electromatic guitars, such as the Double Jet here, which are built in Korea (hollowbodies) and China (Jets and other solidbodies). US Custom Shop is the very top tier but produces relatively low numbers of guitars in a small workshop in the Corona Fender factory staffed by a handful of craftspeople. Guitars made there are typically significantly more expensive again than Pro Collection stuff and limited in numbers by artisanal nature and size of the workshop. Hope that helps - for what it's worth, country of origin has less and less direct relationship to quality as time goes by. The Electromatics we've played have all been really nicely turned out. But, as they say, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice!

@aquariuscomfort6 ай бұрын
It would seem you’re playing the guitar wrong. That is why all guitars have the side dots, which are for the player, and inlays on the fret board is for other players so they know what key and such that you are playing in. When you stand up, can you see those inlays? If so, maybe you’re holding the guitar wrong when standing up?
