Gretsch G5420T walnut stain. First play! it is stunning

Join me in this ramshackle LO-FI review of the wonderful Gretsch G5420T in a sumptuous walnut stain.
In this episode we'll be discussing the wonderful 3D clarity (The Bigsby) and the Graphtec Nu-Bone nut.
We also discuss the mighty FT-5E pickups! which I think are amazing as is the guitar.

Hey man as always thank you for the positives, I trust all is well over yonder 👍 I prefer the look of Gretsches minus the pick guard, in this case I had to remove it to adjust the pickups. At some point this week I'll be reviewing the Vox super beetle WOW! It's absolutely fantastic 😍 cheers RT 🤟😎🍷

​@rapidotlussoguitar I always found tge way the pick guard mounts should be lower right at the E string. It takes some getting used to. That would be my 1 and only complaint about gretsches. My collection is slowly growing. Have a fantastic Streamliner 2655T-P90 and it is one of my favorites and great price. Have 2 of the 3 140 editions. Have tge 5240 and the jet. Both gorgeous. Debating getting the double cut just to complete the set. What do you think? Have you tried the double cut? Love the content. Keep it coming.

@@jonezen420 Hey good to hear from you, to be honest I usually remove the scratch plate on all mine, However on the Anniversary it just looks cool. Sounds like you have some great guitar's. I'll be doing a shootout with the Setzer loaded Tri-Five and the P90 Rat Rod should be interesting perhaps controversial 😁 If I'm completely honest I don't like double cut Gretsches but that's just my opinion. Just bought one half an hour ago, same colour. I've always thought if it's a Gretsch it's gotta be orange, but took one look and loved the colour. Took all of 5 minutes playing for me to decide to buy it. Great neck, just feels "right" in my hands and classic Gretsch tone.

They are fine with me. But I know the TV Jones are brighter, which I would love. May get those installed one day. Bought mine in June, and have just loved the Rockabilly stuff. I was just 5 yeas old or so when all of that was popular in the 50s, but Brian Setzer has really made it great to bring back again. Never had so much fun performing with it. @@rapidotlussoguitar

I ordered a g5222. Returning to guitar after a long while. Seems Gretsch guitars have gained a lot of popularity. A lot of musical history behind the brand. Cool guitars.

Nice George Harrison type of colour. I have a blue 5420T I swapped the Bigsby for a B6C US one and a Vanson Tunamatic roller saddle bridge, improved it no end. Wilkinson machines to go on next to replace those cheapo Waverley style ones.

Yeah it's a lovely colour, I've put a V cut bigsby on my G510T, I always go for the Nickel plated brass bar bridges on mine love the tone. I'm going to live with the tuners as they seem fine on mine. Is yours the CIC model? Enjoy your guitar and thanks for the input RT 😎✌️👍

I would love to See a Upgrade installing 2 HiloTron Pickups and a a Bigsby B6C, to get it more like A Tenessean Rose Gretsch

Hi Mr Victor, funnily enough I plan to remove a row of the pole pieces to make a single coil, like a Tennessean I love Hi-Lo's I'm putting a V cut Bigsby on the 140 anniversary. I may well change the Bigsby in the future on this. Thanks for the message RT 🤟😎🍷

Apologies for the delay, only just seen this. The guitar is in the bridge position every thing up full. I'm using a deluxe reverb tone master. Volume on 2.5 Treble on 4.5 Bass on 6, reverb on 4, Tremolo speed 6 intensity on 6. Thank you for the input RT 👍😎✌️

Awesome video! I just bought this exact guitar the other day. Previous owner had coated 10s strings and im not really feeling it. Is there a brand and string gauge you recommend?

Thank you Luis, I'm currently using 11 to 52 d'addario string's. On this vid it has the stock string's that are 11 to 49. Personally I'd go to 52. Enjoy your guitar RT 😎🤟👍

Not if it's binding in the nut! I use rocking bar bridges on all my Gretsche's haven't put on in this as it is snagging in the nut as it's cut to tight 👍
