When I was looking into upgrading from my first kit about 10 years ago, Nick’s Sweetwater videos were a great guide and I chose the Gretsch Catalina Maple because I was so impressed by the sound in his two videos on that kit. And now NDV is officially part of the Gretsch family!! Really looking forward to all the exciting upcoming Gretsch drums content!!

Great original composition! Really happy to see Nick bringing the Gretsch sound to a wide audience with high production-value videos (and a beautifully treated room with nice diffusers). Congratulations to Nick and Gretsch/GEWA! One possible video feature that'd help distinguish Gretsch would be the use of a control kit/snare. For example, if you're demo'ing a Bonham-size kit, then a few seconds of the video could feature a middle-sized kit (22, 12, 16) for comparison. Or if you're demo'ing a 6.5x14" brass snare, the control could be a 5x14" wood snare. Looking forward to the new videos!

Actually got a little teary-eyed over such a beautiful, full-circle story. And nearly EVERY musician understands having to let a special instrument go when times get tough. Mine was a 1975, M75 Guild Bluesbird my father bought me. Still breaks my heart! GREAT to see you again, Nick! Gretsch couldn’t possibly have found a better representative! Onward! Upward! 🥁😃

@andreasbreitwieser14496 күн бұрын
funny, I either hate this. I love it, when drummers stay with one company because they found their sound. I always feel trapped if the drummer says that he ALWAYS loved the new brand and this is the truly BEST brand ever and a few years later it's another brand. I respect drummers like Gadd, Weckl, Phillips, Smith, Creemers, Harrison, Chambers, etc., playing one brand for decades......

I understand the "regret" you feel about selling your drums. My Dad bought me a beautiful Slingerland set when I was about 15 years old. I played them in shows and weddings as I continued from age 14 to take personal lessons from professional drummers (mostly Jazz but was taught all types of music). I had to sell my Slingerland drums in the 1990's because I needed the money for my children who needed musical instruments for school. I miss those drums. I have a Gretsch shell pack now on order with Sweetwater having been inspired by your KZbin videos. God bless you. BTW, I purchased a pair of "Nick D'Virgillio" drum sticks from Sweetwater and love them.

Good morning Nick I watched you for a long time at Sweetwater I know the music business is constantly changing and in a sense of the word getting smaller more of it is being done now by record producers then by bands and there's always the possibility of being fired or replace no joke! As for me I was born with Cerebral Palsy so my first snare drum what's an old slingerland large oval badge built between 1946 and 48 I got my first drum set in 1962 and got to play drum clinics opposite Gene Krupa twice a year because they traveled on a circuit 62 to 67 Gene was a great man a great artist and a good personal friend I learned later on did he had a blood transfusions between his clinics may he rest in peace and always be remembered as the man who brought drums from the back to the front or should I say Center Stage God bless you and your family sincerely JW Miller Denton Texas 76209 currently 76 and selling gear on reverb Craigslist and a personal friends because I work part-time at Dahlgren Drum Shop in Minneapolis Minnesota where we did the drum clinics with Jurupa❤

Oh Nick, I totally understand the heartbreak about selling your drums. I ran into a financial hardship for my family not to long ago and I had to sell my Gretsch Renown silver kit that my good friend gave me as a gift for all the recording studio work I did with him. I still have my Taylor Hawkins signature snare but no drums anymore. I still am very sad about this.
