I am going to guess this song is about the mentality that everyone is good or evil. The idea that if you don't agree with someone that you are evil and insane. The way this villian and hero mentality is affecting society because instead of seeing why people act and think differently we attack and condem them. We don't understand so either they act like us or are bad. That even if your options don't make complete sense or are accurate you are right and will twist things in your favor. If you aren't perfect you are evil.The things about the devil could be about how people idolize certain people like politans and celebrities. People will make expections to their "morals" for people they idolize. The things about ideal life could be about how you are supposed to graduate from college, get married, get a job, have kids, etc. The expectations that society have for you. If you don't want this "ideal life" then you are a bad person. It is easier for people to think bad and good rather than that people have flaws and can do bad and good things, that humanity is overall morally gray not white and black. If people thought that humanity was overall morally gray we'd have to change a lot of how we think. Perhaps the people that think in black and white are also perjecting their own flaws on others
@nylab.35963 жыл бұрын
I agree, I think u gave a nice possible explanation of the song. To me it also sounds like a person (or could be seen more in general as 'society' itself as u said) that judges people very fast and never questions their judgement. If u disagree with them, u are insane and evil, if u do a mistake, u are pure bad. They are perfect and also seem to lack any empathy or understanding for others really, since they "don't care for situation, time or place" to even think about why this person maybe decided to act a certain way. Their illusion of a good person is an impossible one as well and yet they cling to it regardless, even though its normal that nobody is perfect and will do mistakes or simply have another harmless opinion or views on things than them. Also seems like they avoid and "throw" all the people they deemed as 'bad' away ("All shun the villain just like you should") and don't care if they hurt them by behaving like that ("But never think about the consequences"). Overall that also sounds like a very toxic personality/mentality to have tbh, never trying to see from others point of view, always pointing fingers and blaming the others for being wrong, denying any kind of reason and being selfish ("You don't know what you want but you want it for yourself") , even when wrong they would still prefer to "put others down" rather than admitting that they have flaws themselves. Just yikes. I rarely write comments, but that song really has a topic that spoke much to me and is well made.

ok, the message of this song is kinda funny to me because.. the way i see it is, while the lyrics are talking about someone who sorts people into “boxes” based on what they think is right, they’re also saying that the person is a villain in the narrator’s eyes, which is what the narrator is trying to say is bad. the narrator is sorting this black-and-white thinking person into their own black and white boxes, because the black-and-white thinking person HAS to have some good qualities to them, but the narrator says “no, you’re bad because you do this.” this may not make sense, but it’s how i see it. maybe it’s my own thinking patterns that make the lyrics hypocritical like this, but idk lol

Lyrics Love and hate's the same either way You cut them up to fit your claims And for the people in the crossfire I watch you smile and take your aim Assume the worst, assume the best 'cause strengths and flaws can't co-exist Say he's detached, say she's obsessed You're so well-kept, your life's a mess You seem so sure, secure in your choices But never think about the consequences If we're not safe then we're all in danger But your safety defies all nature Devastation as the devil walks the stage But you know what's right so you sing it's praise Declare your condemnation for opposing ways Only black and white, there is no grey Well just have a good time, decay in that ideal life Throw me away like I'm a hazard out of my mind Either agree or plead insane, everyone's Black or white, there is no grey You don't care for situation, time or place Don't care to question what you dictate And no one dares to tell you what you're doing You're on a path to lead yourself to ruins The bad and good, go by the book All shun the villain just like you should You're stuck inside a game made up in your brain You've forgotten the purpose that you first proclaimed You seem so sure, secure in your choices But never think about the consequences If we're not safe then we're all in danger But your safety defies all nature Devastation as the devil walks the stage But you know what's right so you sing it's praise Declare your condemnation for opposing ways Only black and white, there is no grey Well just have a good time, decay in that ideal life Throw me away like I'm a hazard out of my mind Either agree or plead insane, everyone's Black or white, there is no grey You don't know what you want but you want it for yourself For control, satisfaction, for the easy way out You know that you're wrong but refuse to stop now It's too late, so you put everyone else down And it's hard to live with so much grey you don't understand so you take the shades And you brand them evil and then throw them in a cage All 'cause you're scared of the truth and the mess you've made Devastation as the devil walks the stage But you know what's right so you sing it's praise Declare your condemnation for opposing ways Only black and white, there is no grey Well just have a good time, decay in that ideal life Watch as it burns and leaves you begging just to rewind And now I know you've gone insane, it's Black or white, there is no grey

♫ I'm black then I'm white no! Something isn't right! ♫ ... _There is no grey._ All references aside, nice song, nice video. I can't claim it's perfect (subjective art be subjective), but compared to your previous works you are constantly improving in all aspects. All I've got to say is: Keep improving and keep making music. Your passion for this is astounding, very impressive and surely very inspiring to a considerable amount of others. PS. Would love some lyrics in the description. Some of the text on screen passes by rather quickly. (Also, doesn't that make it easier for people searching for the lyrics on KZbin/Google to find the original song 🤔. Hmm, I guess it's possible that it doesn't but surely it can't hurt)

I think the story behind this song takes place in a kingdom where nobody can think in a other way than in manichean terms (black and white) but at the start of the story, someone is born with the special faculty of thinking in a different, more global way (grey). When the king of this kingdom finally learn of the existence of this person, he decides to makes her his consultant for her original way of thinking. But when he met her, she understood that her existence is a danger to the kingdom because if other people became able to think like her, they would become aware of consequences and their life would become harder. So, she asked the king to lock her away and to continue to rule the kingdom like she never existed in the first place. The king did as she asked but the time he had with her made him able to see the grey even if he didn't want to. As he tried to continue to think in black and white, the realization of the consequences of his actions made him fall in a vicious cycle until he eventually led his kingdom to ruin.

noice theory. i was thinking of a similar thing. i thought that Grey *i'll call the character that bc yes* was just an average lady, until she all of a sudden became the ruler of a very utopian kingdom. she saw things in only Black and White. anyone who didnt think that way was sent to a dungeon Grey would lecture her prisioners about how their 'ideal life' would eventually crumble, and that there is no grey. She told them that they would kill themselves by thinking in this way. her prisioners kept on talking of a new way of thinking. thinking of other colors, and even the color grey. Grey, our lady, did not like that, and drove herself crazy of her color palete. black and white. there is no grey. eventually Grey starts subbumbing to the beliefs of her ever-growing prisioner counts. she starts thinking in grey, and does not like it. she keeps telling herself 'there is no grey. black or white' and it drove her to insanity. she then locked herself in her own dungeon, and drove the kingdom to ruins. some of her followers starting thinking in grey, Grey was left for dead in the dungeon she made, and refused to come out until she could think in Black or White.

i personally love this song, why? because it highlights the issue on how WAY TO MANY people think that people cant be like a " grey shade " theres no like, they dont care or they just dont fit properly, " only black or white, there is no grey " that line sums it up PERFECTLY, why isnt there a in-between area that people can choose? why cant a person be secretly evil thats seen as good? or mabye a person is seen as evil when there just trying to help? its honestly a big issue that many people avoid, but damn QueenPb. you took this problem HEAD ON. and turned it into an absolute banger of a song. good going.

My life is exactly like this and I thought of a message like this a few years ago, down to the bass beats, and now... Someone created it. I've felt like I might be the Spirit of Gumi but this is... Really cool and kinda spooky. And tragic because this is exactly how life feels to me. No one wants to hear how they're saying and doing destructive things.
@wingdingaster21173 жыл бұрын
Song theory? I hear this song as Gumi being the (ex)right hand to a well intentioned extremist. Someone who puts others into black and white categories, while ignoring those who get were standing in between, the “crossfire”. And ultimately adopting a “Then Let Me Be Evil” change for the worst. [“Declare your condemnation for opposing ways” “then we’re all in danger” “but your ‘safety’ defies all nature”] This person goes into further extremes, believing themselves to be in constant threat and probably backing themselves not only into a physical corner, but a metaphorical and moral one. All for the sake of ‘safety’. [“You’re on a path to lead yourself to ruins”. “You’re stuck inside a game made up in your brain.” “You’ve forgotten the purpose that you first proclaimed.”] Gumi’s character is this person’s last remaining hold on reason - on the reason why they started their path to begin with. They’re driving themselves into a “devil” role, and losing themselves to a self made game of morality where everyone loses. Anyone who opposes them is an enemy. [“throw me away like I’m a hazard out of my mind.” “It’s hard to live with so much grey.” “You brand them evil and then throw them in a cage.”] Gumi is kept alive in a prison cell, a traitor against the person she tried to prevent ruin, and this song is made as warning to the inevitable end. It has a very personal layer to the condemnation of “there is no grey”. [“You know that you’re wrong, but refuse to stop now.” “You’re scared of the truth and the mess you’ve made.” “It burns and leaves you begging just to rewind”.] Gumi’s words will go unheard despite them both knowing she’s right, and there won’t be going back from their choices.
